I have a Philips Respironics REMstar Auto A-Flex with humidifier attachment. I bought it in the US but I live in Japan.
This is the second machine I've owned since I started using a CPAP 10 years ago. I bought this one 5 years ago.
For the past two or three years I've had a stubborn dry cough. I've been to doctors and what they give me doesn't help. One doctor thought that the wind of the CPAP all night could be drying me out and causing the cough. Perhaps, but I use the humidifier, could that still be possible?
I think it's more likely that there is an allergen in my apartment, a problem that can't be solved by a doctor, or by an internet message board. But I'm just trying to look at the problem of this cough from every angle to figure out how I can get rid of it, since I can't seem to find a doctor who has a clue about it.

Re: CPAP and dry cough
You have a humidifier. But is it working as well as it could?
I use a travel cpap on occasion. No humidifier. I get a dry cough after a few days on it. Might be the same effect.
I would look into increasing the output of the humidifier. I don't know the machine you use, so I cannot say what can or cannot be done to help with it.

Just nose. I tried mouth & nose, but I always woke up with a stomachful of air!

Re: CPAP and dry cough
Some prescription medications can cause a dry cough.
Check your meds against the online side effects listings.
If any of yours come up, ask your doctor if there are alternatives.
My mother-in-law had a nagging cough from lisinopril.

Re: CPAP and dry cough
I'm surprised that you have a cough. I had a cough for months then started APAP and it went away overnight. I'm so thankful
that it takes care of the problem.

Re: CPAP and dry cough
I often have a dry cough, but it's related to cough variant asthma. Sometimes doctors miss cough variant asthma, so it's worth checking out. As long as I'm using my CPAP (and I don't even use the humidifier) I don't cough. It's other times of the day.
