Resmed n30i

Post by dreamingofdreaming » Mon Nov 11, 2019 7:18 am

Can anyone that uses this mask or have tried this mask tell me if you like it? I currently use the Dreamwear nasal. I need to order a few replacement parts and was thinking of trying this mask instead. It looks like the Dreamwear with a few different features.

I have tried the N30i and it works OK, but I like the P30i version better. The P30i is quieter, seals better, and is more comfortable (for me) than the N30i. Not that I don't like the N30i, I just like the P30i better. The N30i and P30i cushions are interchangeable on the same frame, so it's easy to try both.

i have also tried the Dreamwear. I had more trouble with leaks, and it squeezed my nostrils in slightly (which causes restriction in my large-but-narrow nose). The Respironics Dreamwear frame is also more restrictive to airflow then the Resmed version (roughly 2X). To put it another way, the Resmed restriction with one side completely pinched off is comparable to the restriction of the Dreamwear with both sides open. The Resmed also seems to be more resistant to being pinched off on the low side.

My wife and I both use the P30i. She has to use the small frame and small pillows, but I can use either size frame with large pillows comfortably.

I tried the N30i shortly after it first came out. Didn't like it, just felt like I wasn't delivering enough air. That was my first attempt with a Nasal Cradle, I just don't think they're for me.

Like ragtopcircus, I switched out the N30i cradle and put in a P30i pillow. And loved it.

I have been using the N30i since it came out. It works fine for me. I used the dreamwear for a week, Sleeping on my side seemed to reduce the flow of air. That's why I changed to the N30I
last week I was fitted for a P30I mask. For me it was a terrible idea. With the leak test on my cpap there were no leaks. In the morning Oscar confirmed why I felt so bad.I tried the medium and large cushions. Neither worked for me. I had max. leaks each of the four nights i used it.But less then 1.0 apneas.I searched the internet and read every piece of information om fitting the P30i.
What makes no sense to me is that I used the P10 for many year and it didn't leak and worked fine. The headgear was a pain for me.
But remember each of us has a mask that will fit. You just have to find it. :D

then Bobby269 replies and it's back to "Resmed n30i". can someone explain why?

I’m not a small guy, but like I said I can wear the Standard or Small frames. They position the pillows at a slightly different angle on my nose. I can’t say whether that would be better or worse for you, but it might be worth a try.

When I first posted this, I thought the mask was a p30i. While reading some reviews I saw that it was the n30i. I then corrected it. It is the nasal mask that I was interested in.

that's not what caught my eye. it's the "Resmed vs Resumed" that i'm pointing out.

While I found the P30i to be a lot better as far as leaks for me compared to the N30i, I still had more leaks than I wanted.

I figured it should be as good as the P10....

Ended up ordering a SMALL headgear, even though I had the standard and that is what is supposed to fit me. The difference in how the pillows seal is dramatic. The smaller headgear holds the pillows at a different angle and work much better for me.

I started with a Resmed N30i mask. It didn't work for me: It kept pushing my moustache hairs up into my nostrils. I wasn't able to sleep more than about thirty minutes at a time.

Question, for you more experienced users: Do nasal pillows work if you have a moustache? I switched to a P10i and its much better but in the five weeks I've had it I've yet to sleep more than about three hours.

welcome to the zoo!

yup, i'm full bearded and mustachioed. i use the p10. it has a tendency to scrunch up my mustache, but doesn't send it up into my nose. and a quick bit of combing it in the morning sets it right.

good luck!

oh and if anymore questions, say regarding therapy or what not, might be good to start your own thread. not a hard and fast rule, but still a good thing to do.

You don't have a P10i, there's no such thing. You either have a P10, or P30i.

I'm not being pedantic, this is important because if you are using the P10, I would suggest buying a set of P30i Nasal pillows. The P30i Nasal pillows fit onto your N30i frame, so it's a minimal investment. Order the same size as your P10.

I currently use the N30i since October. I love it. I didn't care for the pillow style on Dreamwear. It made my nostrils sore. I may find the P30i to be different. Since I already have the N30i, I may buy the p30i pillow cushions only & try them.

I too could not stand the pillows version of the Dreamwear!

But the pillows version ( P30i ) of the Resmed is just as comfortable as the P10 pillows. And no hose in front to wrap around your neck!

The P30i pillows snap right into your N30i that you already have.
