CEO of Kaiser Permanente, passes away 'unexpectedly' in his sleep at age 60

Post by Wulfman... » Sun Nov 10, 2019 8:22 pm

I don't know about you, but I always get suspicious when I see that someone "died in their sleep".
But, I thought it was kind of ironic that the CEO of a healthcare provider dies in their sleep.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/bernard- ... 11373.html

One has to wonder if he had sleep apnea.......diagnosed or undiagnosed.
Don't know if we'll ever hear the details on this one, but it might be interesting to speculate......
In any case, it will be sad if he had never been tested for it.

Schadenfreude.
A little happy, a little guilty.

I would be interested to know what the cause of death was besides "natural causes". I am turning 60 in December... my dad died at the age of 60 in 1990, so turning 60 is making me a bit nervous. My dad just did not take care of himself, overweight, did not eat healthy, smoked, drank, etc. My dad probably did have sleep apnea as well, but was never diagnosed or treated. As I recall he had symptoms of apnea, snoring like a buzz saw, always needing a nap, but he was also a chronic smoker & alcoholic. We have always believed he died from alcoholism & smoking, but apnea may have been a contributor. Luckily I have lead a cleaner healthier life than my dad did and am being treated successfully for apnea. I plan on surviving my 60th year of life just fine.

I would be really surprised if he had untreated sleep apnea, because Kaiser is pretty proactive about diagnosing and treating sleep apnea.

But we already know there are folks out there who despise and fear any suggestion of weakness,
refusing to admit there is something amiss until THEY are missed. (Type-A personalities)
Denial is not just for apnea--delay in diagnosis and treatment kills with many swords.

Many people do everything "right" and sometimes it is just the luck of the draw.

Honestly, I find this a very bizarre response to someone's untimely death.

It's not "someone", it's basically a sociopath who's built his empire profiting on the suffering of others.

Read the fine print on your policy.
Remember the parable of the camel and the eye of the needle.
Sociopaths can suffer just as much as the rest of us--but sometimes they DESERVE it.

Nah, what we need is NO health insurance, but a progressive country that takes care of it's populous, instead of fleecing them for profit so that more executives can have more yachts.
