Hi there,

I'm really struggling with my Dreamwear nasal mask because of claustrophobia and the fact my nervous system is hypersensitive due to UARS. It also creates leaks when I'm on my side. The Resmed N30 seems to be similar to the Dreamwear (apart from the hose being on top or below) so not sure if it's any better.

Anyone else try the N30?

Thanks.

I haven't used the N30, but have used the similarly styled P10.

The N30 should be better for your claustrophobia because it is a lot lighter, minimal and less distracting than the DreamWear.

musicfreak, you could try the N30i. My dreamwear nasal mask leaked as well, but the N30i does not. And you get to keep the hose on your head like your dreamwear.

That's what I was thinking. I may try this one if I decide not to get the Bleep. Thanks for your opinion.

Hi,

I didn't see this one. Thanks for letting me know. I'll check it out. I'm trying to decide between a another cushion type mask or the Bleep. I need something that's more minimal to help with the claustrophobia.

Thanks.

In my experience, the n30i does leak when side-sleeping; worse than the dreamwear because of the hard plastic piece.

I am claustrophobic. The N20 works best for me so far. Have not tried the N30 yet but the N20 gives me a clear line of sight and has magnets so you can pull it off easily. It has the "for her" version which is just basically a smaller size so it fits better. The only draw back is the vent is not diffused as some so if you sleep facing your bed partner they are likely to get a blast of air every now and then. I hear the N30 is diffused so I am thinking of trying it next time my insurance allows a new mask but the N20 so far has worked well and reduced my anxiety about sleeping with a mask. I was staying up later and later to avoid putting the dreamwear ff mask on. I have tried several other masks since then but I keep coming back to the N20.

just butting to use this exchange as an example.

we are all different. what works for me may not necessarily work for thee. this is why finding THE perfect mask can be so frustrating. it's also good to know that our sponsor, www.cpap.com, has a 30 day return policy.

it's also why i try to refrain from suggesting a mask. i only pipe up if someone asks for specific comments on a p10.

i KNOW it's the perfect mask!

I was actually hesitant to try the Resmed N30i because several people said they didn't like it because of the hard plastic on the cushion & leaking when on their side... but I am glad I did try it because it turned out to be the perfect mask for me. I am female, small head/face. I use the small headgear & small cushion in case that may matter. It was the dreamwear line of masks that I had leaking issues with even when wearing the small frame & cushion, so it is worth trying ANY mask that you may be interested in. You may be pleasantly surprised or bitterly disappointed, but trying several different masks & styles is how I did find MY perfect mask. I don't even feel the hard plastic on the N30i & it doesn't leak or cut off air and I move around a lot while sleeping and am a side sleeper most of the night.

I've been using Dreamwear cushion for a few years, but plagued with leak issues, especially as the nosepiece aged. I recently got connected with CPAP supplies through the VA and was issued a new mask to try, the N30i. My numbers and leak rate have really been in much tighter control. I switched from the Dreamstation to the Airsense 10 Autoset, and the breathing algorithm is a huge difference for me, so will see how this goes over the next few months. Really wish I had switched things up a lot sooner.

Folks....bear in mind that ResMed has thrown us a curve....the very newest mask is the AirFit N30.
People are now talking about their N30i experiences.....they are NOT the same mask.

This is the brand new N30....note it has headgear that is like the P10 headgear and a frame very similar to the P10 frame.
The hose attaches the mask at the nose and at the cushion.

This is the older N30i...hose attaches on top of the head and the air goes down through the sides of the frame to the cushion.

Everyone is going to have to play extra special attention to exactly which mask people are talking about.
This thread isn't about the N30i....it's about the N30.

Is ResMed discontinuing the N30i mask, replacing this mask with a N30? I certainly hope not as i have adopted to the top mounted hose and the airflow into the mask tubes. With their latest version, I am wondering if the N30i had any exhaust problems.
