Just got a new ResMed s10! Got questions
Got questions as this was bought used (88 hrs), and it doesn't have an SD card.
I set the pressures I had on my old respironics system one.
But no SD card
Can I use the SD card from my respironics machine on this s10?
Is there anything I need to know about this machine? I mean in comparison to my older system one (750p) is this got better algorithm ect?
Any common issues with it?

Re: Just got a new ResMed s10! Got questions
So exactly which new ResMed machine model did you get?
S10 is a Chevy truck.
There are 4 AirSense 10 Resmed models and about that many (maybe more) AirCurve 10 models.
Model name is clearly shown on the right lower face of the machine.
You can use the SD card from your old Respironics machine but most likely you will need to erase the card first.

Hello Pugsy, thanks so much for your help.
Its a ResMed airsense 10 (AutoSet)
It didn't come with the cool hose, so I guess I'll just use my standard hose
Also since I don't have a dme. How do I update the software on this? I'd like to be up to date with the software and algorithm
Re: Just got a new ResMed s10! Got questions
You can't update the software inside the machine. ResMed just doesn't ever do that except in extremely rare situations and if they do it is a blanket over the cellular airways update. They have never updated the algorithm though since the change after the S9 models came out. The only update that I have ever heard about that went out to the public with the AirSense was a minor bug fix in the humidifier hose software area.
Otherwise if you want the latest software version it has to go back to ResMed factory to get it done....DMEs don't even do it.
You can't really compare algorithms between the Respironics 750 BiPap Auto and the AirSense 10 AutoSet.
Two different kinds of machines along with brands. Bilevel vs single pressure.
In general though ResMed auto adjusting algorithms are more responsive than Respironics no matter if bilevel or single pressure.

You buy a new one... or send that one back to an authorized factory service center.Ruinednose wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 7:01 pmAlso since I don't have a dme. How do I update the software on this? I'd like to be up to date with the software and algorithm

Re: Just got a new ResMed s10! Got questions
I suppose I need to be in *airplane mode* as I don't have the cellular function connected to anywhere?
OK thanks guys for the response, I guess I don't need to worry about the software update. Tonight is my first night of this, first night on a cpap, I'm used to bilevel but only due to the exhalation relief I enjoy.
Now trying this cpap with EPR at 3 and in auto mode from 9 to 15 pressure.
I'm hoping app goes well!
I wonder if getting the heated tube adds to the experience,

Not unless you particularly want to be.Ruinednose wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 7:18 pmI suppose I need to be in *airplane mode* as I don't have the cellular function connected to anywhere?
I'd suggest 9-20, no need to restrict the machine on the first night, see what it needs to do.Ruinednose wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 7:18 pmNow trying this cpap with EPR at 3 and in auto mode from 9 to 15 pressure.
Only if you're having rainout. Then the hested hose would *subtract* that from the experience.Ruinednose wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 7:18 pmI wonder if getting the heated tube adds to the experience,

Isn't the 9 to 20 range to broad? I mean I know it's auto cpap, but for some reason I remember reading years ago for the optimal range to be tighter.
My bipap never goes north of 14.5,but I will leave it to 20 and see what happens as your recommend.
I see there is this Oscar software out now. I'm out of touch is it a better software than the sleepy head?
What are main differences?
Is sleepy head forgotten? I'm thankful for all it did!
Re: Just got a new ResMed s10! Got questions
People that don't know what they're doing oversimplify things. For the vast majority of people, all that matters is the minimum pressure, the machine won't go higher than it needs to in order to alleviate breathing anomalies.Ruinednose wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 7:52 pmIsn't the 9 to 20 range to broad? People that, again, don't know what they're talking about refer to a 'narrow range', and while, yes, 9-20(11) is a 'narrower range' than 4-20(16), it's not the 'range' that is the issue, it's the minimum pressure.
Now, if you're having problems with aerophagia, THEN there's a legitimate reason to lower the max pressure, until you can work up to a max that doesn't blow you up, AND alleviates breathing issues.
Mr Watkins, unfortunately, had what appears to be an extended paranoia attack, thinking everyone was out to get him, and he destroyed the sleepyhead project.Ruinednose wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 7:52 pmI see there is this Oscar software out now. Many, if not most of the people that have worked on Sleepyhead at one point or another in the past forked the program and created Oscar.
Sleepyhead is dead, Oscar is under active development, by a team of people who are in it to help others, not to stoke their egos and collect donations. It's an exceptionally refreshing change from the previous development environment, which existed only to benefit Mr Watkins. (You will notice that my name's been in the credits of the last three versions of sleepyhead, and in Oscar's, I've been there, not just reporting something I heard.)

I will get Oscar and will update it each release as I did with sleepy head, I don't mind donating to help someone that's helping me,
I hope that Oscar has more of the same cool stuff sleepyhead did, like the graphs and locating RERA ect.
A small issue with the airsense 10..... My pr system one has a swivel that rotated where the hose attached, I really really appreciated that... This thing doesn't... I'm having to face the back of the machine towards me, anyone makes an adapter of sorts?
Re: Just got a new ResMed s10! Got questions
The first version of Oscar is *literally* the same as the last of Sleepyhead, with some of the more egregious bugs fixed.Ruinednose wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 9:33 pmI hope that Oscar has more of the same cool stuff sleepyhead did, like the graphs and locating RERA ect.
It's getting better since then.
That's another reason to consider getting a heated hose, the 90 degree connector on the end of it.Ruinednose wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 9:33 pmA small issue with the airsense 10..... Re: Just got a new ResMed s10! Got questions
Strange to say, I'm used to a bipap solely for the easier exhalation.
This resmed has awesome exhalation relief, (lvl 3) it was truly a good experience, my ahi was the same as my bipap in the morning, I noticed I had it set to 9 to 20presseure.
But most of the night it was 8.4 I using as the low.

Re: Just got a new ResMed s10! Got questions
For me, it makes sense to keep a Dreamstation set to a narrow range. They respond too slowly, finally overshoot, and then take too long to drop again - at least for me.
Resmed’s algorithm does a better job of going to the right pressure quickly without overshooting, so there is no reason to constrain it.
My fiancée has severe trouble with aerophagia waking her up, so I do have her Resmed (formerly mine) limited to a max pressure that isn’t quite enough for her. I hope that’s temporary though. I’ve been slowly nudging it up as she adapts. She previously failed with a PRS1.
