ResMed AirFit N30i hose moves around in sleep - any advice?

Post by k8needs2sleep » Sun Oct 20, 2019 5:38 pm

Hello everyone!
This is my first post so I'll start off by saying "howdy!".
Been using AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her with an AirFit N30i nasal mask since July 31st (prior to this, I'm unsure what I was using as it was a hire machine to get me used to using CPAP before I committed to purchasing my own machine). I seem to be adapting well, and my sleep has definitely improved, but with the hose positioned on top of the head, I've found when I change positions at night it moves the positioning of the mask on my face. I don't want to tighten straps because I then get sores on the tip of my nose and big ole puffy bags under my eyes. Just wondering if there's anyone here who uses this mask and if they've had any luck securing the danged hose so it's not slipping the mask around on their face while they sleep?
Thank you for your help.

You may wish to explore a different bed pillow. They usually cause what you're describing.
If the pillow is too soft, your head can sink into it and move the mask around.
Many of us use specific brands/types of bed pillows. Mine is in my profile.

Here's a search link:

Thank you. I do use a chiropractic pillow, but I bought it a few years ago - might be time for an upgrade. Appreciate your assistance.

A regular foam pillow, on the softer side, helped with keeping my headgear in position. The cpap style pillow was too hard.

I would HIGHLY recommend trying the "P30i" nostril piece in your N30i headgear. It is a direct replacement for your cushion. I think you might find it seals a LOT better and allows you to put proper tension on the headgear without the sore nose effect I also had with the N30i equipment.

I agree with realshelby, I switched the attachment from N30i to P30i.

Considerable improvement in comfort, leaks, airflow.

Do you have your hose anchored in any way? I have used a Command brand stick on strap applied to the highest point on the bedpost for years with good effect. Might help...
