Does an expert mind looking at my cpap data?

Post by nikkwong » Thu Oct 10, 2019 3:53 pm

I don't feel well. It's been about two years now and I've had several surgeries and procedures on my throat. My AHI started at around 40 and now its down to 1, but I'm a skinny person and it seems like the hypopneas are mostly my problem.

Last night was a typical night; slept about 10 hours and not much to show on the graphs. Woke up about 4 times to urinate. Didn't feel like deep sleep at all throughout most of the night. Though my AHI was only 1, a lot of the flow rate looks like so, with lots of obstruction-like events not actually being added to the score:

Here's the truncated version:

Although I'm more interested in a deeper analysis of the flow rate. Here's the data:

Can anyone share as to whether they think this data (specifically the choppy flow rate seen throughout the night) may explain my general sleep inertia and early morning fatigue? Keep in mind that hypopneas have always been my issue (I'm not overweight, and have a small airway overall). Thank you.

Happily I finally found a way to make this forum more useful. You can actually hide the messages of trolls by going to their profile -> "Add Foe", and their useless comments will disappear. Now all the virulence of this forum can finally disappear and we can get back to actually improving people's sleep apnea and helping them get healthier.

Good luck, nikk.
Maybe there are experts you have not yet alienated.

Could this possibly be a manifestation of "Sleep Paralysis?" You can google that term.

Hi Jimbud, thanks for the comment. I'm familiar with sleep paralysis, and have had it in the past a time or two, but I don't ever experience it anymore. My guess would be that this is not sleep paralysis. Appreciate the help though.

Just in case you hadn't heard yet, but it applies, back-sleeping vs side(s) provokes many more events, and lots of hypopneas will show up if you're prone to them, so making an effort to not back sleep (lots of tricks to try) might be an idea.

Thanks for the response. It's tough. What's your favorite?

Irrelevant - we're all different and have diff. reasons for how we sleep - plus I just realized I answered that|you directly on Jan. 5th!
