Taking BiPAP to Europe- how to plug in?
Taking BiPAP to Europe- how to plug in?
I'm heading to France (staying two weeks) in the coming months and it's the first time with my bipap device.
For those who travel, how do you connect your machine? Do you get a portable battery and bring it along, get a transformer/converter? If so, which ones to ensure it works and is powerful enough?
Please let me know what's worked for you. Sharing links is helpful too on what to buy.
Thank you!

If you look at the bottom of your power transformer or 'brick', you will see what voltage range it works with. The transformer automatically adjusts to the voltage used in France and in most of Europe, and delivers whatever power is needed to the unit.

With the Dreamstation Bipap all you need is an adapter so the machine can plug into the wall socket. If you want to use the bipap on the plane then you would likely need a battery.lilou wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 10:45 amI'm heading to France (staying two weeks) in the coming months and it's the first time with my bipap device.

All CPAP machines I've had have been multi-voltage capable. I just use one of those: https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Worldwid ... B073PQ9N1Z
Going there again in a couple of weeks.

Yes, but you still need either an appropriate plug adapter or a replacement cable.rick blaine wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 11:07 amIf you look at the bottom of your power transformer or 'brick', you will see what voltage range it works with. Re: Taking BiPAP to Europe- how to plug in?
As you were already advised, all DreamStation models are compatible with household (or hotelhold) electricity everywhere in the world. You will need an adapter (i.e. a shape changer), but not a converter (i.e. a voltage changer).
The adapter that was suggested in another posting appears to be a good one. It has two USB ports, so you can also charge your phone (you still need to bring the charging cable).

Re: Taking BiPAP to Europe- how to plug in?
If it's an overnight flight you might need to check with the airline about using their onboard power supply but as the flight is about 8 hours this probably won't be an issue. I traveled recently through Europe and all i had to do was make sure I had the correct power adaptor as my machine's power brick covered 110 to 240 volts.

Look for the white or brown plastic thing on the wall that has four slots and two holes in it and plug it in there. If the house is old, the plastic things may only have the four slots in them without the holes. Either one will work just fine for your machine. Hope this helps.
