My Sleep doc says EPR strictly a matter of personal preference
My Sleep doc told me that whether or not to use EPR (and on what setting) is strictly a matter of personal preference.
He said that there is no medical benefit or detriment to using it.
Personally, I don't like it and I have it off.
Does anybody out there have any contradictory information?

Re: My Sleep doc says EPR strictly a matter of personal preference
There is nothing exactly wrong with what the doctor said. If EPR allows someone to use their device comfortably where they otherwise couldn't, it's fair to say it has a medical benefit.D.H. wrote:My Sleep doc told me that whether or not to use EPR (and on what setting) is strictly a matter of personal preference.

Re: My Sleep doc says EPR strictly a matter of personal preference
As a World Traveler and a professed XPAP user for over ten years, you have found a Sleep Doctor that tells you what is in the Owners Manuel, how lucky for you. Keep up the good work! I used it at 15 cm, then later when my chest healed from being cut open, I stopped thinking it would make my lungs stronger, it did. The HH is also a comfort device, but the best Comfort device is the XPAP it'self! Definitely not in my experience. I failed CPAP and the only way to control my arousals was with pretty high PS; adding pressure alone didn't do it.
But I guess you could say that the line between "comfort" and "medical necessity" is awfully blurry when you consider sleep.

Given the *FACT* that your machine DOES NOT HAVE EPR , I'd say you're babbling, as usual.D.H. wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 11:04 amMy Sleep doc told me that whether or not to use EPR (and on what setting) is strictly a matter of personal preference.

And we've determined that doctors frequently do the same thing you constantly do... blabble on about stuff they don't understand.

I'm pretty sure that's just a joke... because no respironics machines have EPR... they do have something that provides a little exhale relief, but it's not EPR.

Yes, you're absolutely right. It was a joke

Should've mentioned that it was a joke, in case someone searched and came across this.

Re: My Sleep doc says EPR strictly a matter of personal preference
Both EPR and heated humidification have been characterized as "comfort" features;
often in an attempt to disallow insurance coverage.
Comfort is too often critical to sleep to ever try that lame excuse.

I'd say breathing is pretty much a comfort thing too. Maybe that is why insurance companies are so obnoxious about CPAPs
