palerider, I'm setting up my new Autoset 10. It came with the modem turned on and *without* an SD card so I just bought a card (not flash, just SDHC) and put it in the machine and turned Airplane mode ON. (I don't want the modem enabled while I'm sleeping at night.)

So just to confirm: If I turn Airplane mode back off during the day, my data will transmit to the DME just fine, and I can leave the SD card in the machine?

Yes, that is correct. Just make sure that the card is in the machine while you're sleeping.

The card and the cell modem don't have any kind of interaction.

That usually happens only once, and ceases after a stern "YOU DO NOT HAVE MY PERMISSION TO REMOTELY CHANGE MY SETTINGS". (from what I've heard)

In my case, nobody cares, or gets paid; so there is no upside to tinkering with my settings.

I'm assuming -- hopefully correctly -- that before the DME can change any settings they would need to get doctor's authorization to do so. If that's true, I'm good -- my primary knows very little if anything about CPAP settings. If the DME contacted her for permission to change my settings, I'd probably get a phone call from her asking what she should tell the DME.

If you have a mobile phone and depending on your mobile carrier you may be able to get a device from the carrier that offers cellular coverage in your home that works through your home internet. For example, Verizon offers this device:

You plug it into your internet router and it becomes a mini-cell tower right in your home that provides voice and data coverage. Depending on the coverage at your home the devices can be free.

It could be a good solution if you really want or need to be connected to MyAir.
