I too have been looking for a good solution for a chin strap. I've tried at least 10-12 different masks. Some pillows, nasal and full face masks. I'm assuming it's because of high pressure but every time I try any mask including a full face mask without a chin strap my mouth gets so dry very quickly after falling asleep that I continually wake up. Eventually I put on a chin strap because the dryness is too uncomfortable.

So at this point I wear a chin strap with any mask I use.

My current favorites are the Resmed P10 and the Resmed AirFit N20. If I'm going to have to use a chin strap regardless, I'm glad there are options for less mask on my face.

I still want Resmed to make a F30i. THAT would be MY perfect mask if they keep the same cushion as the F30, and that is where I will STOP searching. The ONLY reason I ditched the F30 is because of the hose on the nose. I can't stand that, as I move around too much, practically kicking my husband out of the bed. I found myself waking up too much being strangled by my hose. I MUCH prefer the dreamwear FF style, just had to figure out how to make it work for me.
By the way, if you don't mind the hose on the nose & are looking for a different mask & have never tried the Resmed F30, I highly recommend it. That was the ONLY mask that didn't leak for me & I didn't have to use a chin strap or liners. I guess Resmed products fit me better than Phillips.

How does the F30 compare to the Dreamwear Full Face mask? Is the difference in the nasal part but rest around the mouth pretty much the same as the Dreamwear?

Also I seem to be allergic to the silicone. Every mask that I've tried except the P10 I need to also add a mask liner to. I am continually getting deep red lines on my face where the mask touches me. The red marks last most of the day.

I don't mind the hose coming out in the front. Actually I prefer that to the air noise around my head that we get with Dreamwear or the AirFit N30i.

the FF cushion on the Dreamwear & FF cushion on the F30 are completely different. The main difference is the breathing hole for your nostrils. The dreamwear nasal & FF mask cushions have one big hole where your nostrils go. The opening is too large, even when using the small cushion, therefore it leaks for me. Resmed F30 cushion has two smaller holes, so that is the difference for me. A wide chin strap or liners is a must for me when using Dreamwear. The Resmed F30 with the two smaller holes, one for each nostril, is PERFECT for me and no chin strap or liners are needed. That's why I am hoping & guessing that Resmed will eventually create a FF version of their N30i & P30i. Since I have resolved my leaking & obnoxious noise issues, I will stick with my dreamwear FF until such time that Resmed creates a new FF mask to match their I series. The dreamwear is a very comfortable mask otherwise, I will not consider getting a Resmed N30i or P30i because nasal masks don't seal well for me and I would need a chin strap anyway. On another subject, I am about to receive delivery of my first cpap pillow. I think that will improve my comfort level since I am a side sleeper when I am not rolling around and kicking my husband in bed.

I just got a CPAP pillow in the mail yesterday & used it for the first time last night. I researched before buying & selected the pillow that had the best reviews. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I didn't hear a PEEP from my mask cushion. Normally I would feel it moving on a traditional pillow, & prior to using a chin strap, it made obnoxious noises. No apparent movement or noise from my mask all night. I am going to try using my Dreamwear FF mask without the chin strap tonight. Will let you know if the chin strap or liners is still needed.

well, slept with FF mask without chin strap. The CPAP pillow does help keep some of the leaking down, but not completely. I still had minor leaking, but no loud obnoxious noises. Will continue to use the chin strap with my FF mask since that fixes everything. Apparently I am one of those people that needs to keep my mouth shut even when wearing a FF mask in order to have the best therapy & experience. I wish I had tried the chin strap with FF sooner. The new pillow also makes a difference. I highly recommend on if you haven't tried one already.

SIGH! my Halo style chin strap broke last night. One of the velcro tabs fell off. Back to liners now. At least I know remzzz liners work. Luckily I had some remzzz mask liners left over from when I had my F20. They don't fit my dreamwear, but I made it work anyway so that I could get back to sleep. I will order Remzzz from my DME as my insurance does not carry pad a cheek. I will order pad a cheek liners as well to see if I prefer those.

sorry to hear it. it's almost as if the sleep apnea demons heard your joy and crept in to crush it. :(

Those peel and stick velcro strips from WalMart do a pretty darn good job of staying put as a repair.
Might look at them.

so I shouldn't try to glue it back on or sew it? Where do I get the strips in walmart? in the sewing section? Or I just stick with liners or get a different chin strap.

I suppose you could try to glue it back together. I have done that too but since that usually means buying glue and velcro....I usually just get the velcro with sticky backing so I only buy one item.
I don't sew...which is why I didn't mention that.
Velcro strips are over in the sewing material section at WalMart. I love the peel and stick myself because sometimes I only need one side and that's all I have to use.

My insurance will not replace my broken chin strap, so will have to order on my own. Thinking of ordering a new halo style from someone other than Sunset. I no longer trust Sunset brand for chin straps. MY DME only supplies Sunset products. The filters are fine, but not the chinstrap. I may also order the Ruby as suggested and see which one I like better. I do have elastic headbands, but they would likely fall off unless I use two of them, one vertical & one horizontal.. but then it may be too bulky for my mask frame. Instead of ordering online, I may go to a local brick & mortar DME pharmacy near my work. They are pricier, but I would be able to get a new chin strap sooner. Perhaps I will order one online & buy one in the store. For tonight, I will use my stash of liners that actually are for my old F20. I still had them left when I switched to the F30 . They are not perfect for my Dreamwear, but I have managed to make them work.

Aunt Ducky:

What pillow did you research and finally buy? Could you give the brand name and where it can be found? Maybe the pillow you found might help me with sleeping on my side.
