OT: and miles to go before i sleep

Post by zonker » Thu Aug 22, 2019 5:45 pm

and when i mean OT, i mean OT. if you're looking for something tangentially relate to xpap, move on. :D

and if you don't want to read anything about zonker's personal life, move on. :D

hey wait! where's everyone going? jeez someone should stick around.

okay i'll just post it anyway. someone is bound to read it. the title is a clever bit of wordplay which means i'm moving. not from the forum (calm down palerider)! just moving in "meat space" as the hip kids today say.

we have an opportunity to move from the southwest back to the pacific northwest and we are seizing the day to do just that. we are pretty happy with the prospect of being back where we have spent 35 years. and my wife was there even longer than that.

so, i wanted to let you know that i might not be stalking the forum as much as i have. i don't know if it's apparent, but i come in here about five times a day. i'll be cutting back on that as there is quite a lot to get done between now and der tag.

we plan to head 'em up and move 'em out on september 27th. we still have this property to sell, but so far, that's looking like it's going to plan. we have a sucker, er i mean, an interested buyer. and we have property in the northwest which should close on september 4th.

this is very exciting. we were okay with living in the high desert, but we really do miss the rain. the "monsoon" here was pathetic this year. and even in the past, when it came? it just isn't like the rain we are used to.

so, just wanted to give folks a heads up. i'm hoping to be back to my regular schedule around the first week of october.

cheers!!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Okay, I stuck around.

Happy that you are happy with the move. I have moved away from southern Missouri twice in my life and both times I was miserable where I was and came back after just a few years.

Right now the only place I might move to is a small island in the Caribbean or Tahiti or some place like that.
Of my 67 years on earth I have been in this area 57 of them. Old habits die hard.

Great to hear the update. The Northwest would love to have you! Where do you plan to end up?

And great that we don't need to worry when see you being quiet.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

I'm happy for you. That area is very beautiful. I have spent a little time in the Seattle area and enjoyed it while I was there. I am originally from northwest Missouri, but left there 56 years ago. Since then, we have lived in eleven different places. We have settled here, and do not plan on leaving this area. We are close enough to our remaining family members that we can get there in one or one and a half days travel by car. The closest we lived to the northwest was Montana, but we really enjoyed our time there. We hope to visit the northwest this fall. We had planned on doing so last spring, but my medical problems spoiled those plans.

The Tacoma / Lakewood area is my adopted Adult Hometown. I spent almost 4 years at Ft. Lewis, as a born and raised Texan from Houston, I LOVED that place. I really miss Mt. Rainier, I miss the cool weather, I miss driving my little sports car through the twistys up in the foothills and going through Ashbe and Elbe (Elm?..forget..), Puyallup and Spanaway. Please go by the House of Teriyaki in Tillicum for me and order a beef bowl with fried rice spicy level 3...ummmmm.....God I want to book a flight just for that alone.

Hoping you have an efficient and uneventful packup and move.
Yay :D For no more diaphragm cramps and dozing off while driving!

Congrats Zonker. Arizona's loss.

Your post is how I felt about coming back home here to Arizona. When we had the opportunity we took it.

Enjoy being back where you desire to be. Expecting future posts about the impact of climate on needed humidity with cpap. :)

home is where the heart is, right?

i spent the first 25 years of my life in indianapolis, indiana. there were many reasons for me to have left there. in the end, i just didn't mesh with my fellow hoosiers at that time.

when i first set foot in seattle, i KNEW i wanted to live there. went back to indianapolis and worked hard to save up money to make seattle my home.

i've made some dumb decisions in my life. deciding to move to the pacific northwest was NOT one of them.

I hope all the real estate stuff falls into place just the way you want it to, and that the move goes smooth as silk. We’ll miss you during the interval, though!

heh. sedro-wooley.

now i can hear you snickering from here, so i feel i have to speak up as to why. my wife and i currently live in a house on our daughter's property. daughter's husband is chief of rescue services in the grand canyon. daughter works as support for the ranger service. (she WAS a ranger, but didn't like grand canyon. so she does her job from home here and goes into the office in flagstaff on occasion.) so we are locked in with them. we are one big team.

the son in law has gotten a promotion to chief ranger of northern cascades national park, the third biggest park in the united states. SO, he's moving to sedro-woolley, where the office is. we will move with them and have a place to live there, as well.

while sedro isn't exactly bright lights, big city, there is more there than there is here. and british columbia is a short drive (vancouver) or shorter ferry ride (victoria) away. and we have been visitors there so often in the past and we are keen to see it again.

okay, maybe you weren't snickering.

besides, seattle is an hour and half drive away....

yes, it is. it's gotten slightly crowded in seattle itself. because of the lay of the land, there isn't any room, really, to expand east or west. so if you live north or south, (we lived south) the drive into seattle or out can be nightmarish.

still, gorgeous.

oh sure leave it to you to drag us back on topic!

seriously, that's going to be strange as all get out. took me some time to get my humidity adjusted here. and just walking around in a very low humidity itself is weird.

but i shall try to overcome!!
