Useful "lifespan" of Resmed F30 mask
Useful "lifespan" of Resmed F30 mask
I use a Resmed F 30 mask with my Resmed Airsense 10 machine with pressures 16-20. The mask works very well each night when I first start using it (AHI 0.5 - 1.5), but after about six weeks or so the leaks gradually increase, waking me up frequently throughout at night. Replacing the cushion dramatically improves the leaking. I clean my mask each morning with CPAP wipes, sometimes with a little isopropyl alcohol on the wipe because I don't have time to disassemble it and wash it in soap and water each day.
Is this just the useful lifespan of the F 30 cushion, which needs to be replaced every two months or so, or is there a way to prolong its utility?
Thank you
RRR

Re: Useful "lifespan" of Resmed F30 mask
I think it's such a subjective thing... we're all different... that putting a timeline on a particular mask for a patient is not going to be doable. If a certain mask is known over time to be especially fragile, etc. that will show up in reviews, etc. that can be found on Cpap.com.
Re: Useful "lifespan" of Resmed F30 mask
Sorry to hear. Has it lost its shape? Then trying to not over-tighten it might help. If it’s caused by oils, maybe a mask liner could help?

Are you sure that the alcohol is not the problem? When I use wipes they are the alcohol free wipes.

The Airtouch cushion is DESIGNED to fizzle early!
You have already managed to squeeze out more time than ResMed intended.
(The planned lifespan is only a month--it is hard to get that, if not more.)
If anyone can devise a way to make it last even longer--good for them!
If you cannot afford to replace it as often as needed,
perhaps a different mask, plus a mask liner.
[[[And another nasty letter to the manufacturer.]]]

You are thinking about the AirTouch memory foam cushion and that is for the F20 AirTouch and not the F30 which is what the OP has.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2019 9:10 amThe Airtouch cushion is DESIGNED to fizzle early!![]()

The AirTouch is the memory foam but it's only available on the F20....not available on the F30 which is what the OP asked about.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2019 9:45 amI guess I gotta go look up the diff.

AirFit is silicone
AirTouch is memory foam but it's not available on anything (yet anyway) except the F20.

Whatever mask is the OP has, we can probably agree that resmed
has refined planned throwaway technology to the highest level.
Too bad so many of us are addicted to soft masks.

Thanks for your replies-I guess I'll just have to replace the cushions every 4-6 weeks ...

Re: Useful "lifespan" of Resmed F30 mask
I do feel like the F30 is a bit more delicate then others I've used (but it is an amazing mask for me). I'm about 6 weeks in with this current cushion and I ordered my replacement that I'll start using in the next day or so.

Re: Useful "lifespan" of Resmed F30 mask
For what it's worth, Froggy, I am just past 2 months of use with the F20. I have 2 spares already since I can get one every month. With my insurance, it costs $14 to get a new one so it's worth getting even if I don't need it. And I love the memory foamchunkyfrog wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2019 9:45 amI guess I gotta go look up the diff.

Ok, love sounds a bit too strong, but it's comfy for me.

Re: Useful "lifespan" of Resmed F30 mask
It would be helpful if the original poster would clarify whether they were asking about the AitTouch F20 with memory foam, or the AirFit F30 hybrid full face mask.
The responses have been confusing too, since some seem to be using the terms interchangeably.

Re: Useful "lifespan" of Resmed F30 mask
I originally thought so too, but it seems unlikely the F30 would only last a month and a half, and the AirTouch F20 shown in the OP’s profile does have that issue. Based on the responses so far, I would say others are confused too - it isn’t just me.Pugsy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 2:21 pmI thought he made it very clear.NoOnesPerfect wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 10:35 amIt would be helpful if the original poster would clarify whether they were asking about the AitTouch F20 with memory foam, or the AirFit F30 hybrid full face mask.
