Airfit F20 Cushion

Post by joeljjk11 » Sun Aug 18, 2019 12:05 pm

How long does it last for you? I let mine go for too long and it started to leak, trying to get a feel for when others replace it. Seems like I should have replaced it three months ago lol but I didn’t realize it.

IMHO it depends on a lot of things...... do you wipe it clean everyday with cpap wipes , do you wash your face each night before putting it on... do you use aftershave... etc etc
In my experience I have had one last between 2 and 3 months ,,,,,, doing everything correct..... and worse case scenario for me once a month......

I hope this helps somewhat,,, i don't think there is a definite answer depending on many circumstances... also take into consideration how oily is your skin.....

Based on your profile, Your experience is with the AirTouch - the memory foam cushion. The OP asked about the AirFit - the silicone cushion. I agree on the longevity (or lack thereof) of the foam cushion, but I would expect the silicone version to last more like 6-12 months.

Based on my experience with the F&P Simplus, which has the same type of cushion, I would guess 6+ months(depending on your care). I wipe my mask with a baby wipe every night and only really wash it about once a month. I think washing often damages the cushion.

I used the F20 with the silocone first. I then used the F20 with the less durable foam which gave me a better seal. Got between 2 and 3 months out of the foam. But insurance paid for a new foam each month so I did not care. I have since switched to the F30 which has given me the best seal without tightening it so much. And the F30 is smaller, lighter with less marks on the face and can wear glasses and watch TV. However, everyone is different.

My wife and I both use the regular F20 mask. I recently put new cushions on both masks. The cushions were both over a year old. My wife has used her mask since March, 2017, and this the second time I have changed her cushion. My mask is about 18 months old and I started a new mask around the first of April, 2018 because ResMed sent it to me to use as a test. I was to use the cushion for 13 months without changing it. I finally changed it about two weeks ago, simply because I had two cushions available.

Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional.

I get 6 to 9 months out of a cushion. When it starts to leak, that I can't control, I use a new cushion.
