p10 vs p30i

Post by roadcycler » Tue Jul 09, 2019 6:18 pm

I have had good success with the p10 but hate the hose placement. Have woken up a couple of times with the hose wrapped around my neck. Tried the p30i for 2 weeks, love have the hose above my head but finding that I am waking up feeling like I am starving for air. When I increased the set pressure when using the p10's from 6 to 7 my centrals increased so I am kinda chicken shit to try to raise it with the p30i. Anybody else have noticed this when changing over.

I have been using a P-10 lately, alternating with Dreamwear cushions and N-30 cushions and have had the same problem with the P-10. I may have found a solution that works for me. This is only based on the past two nights with the P-10. I ran the hose from machine under my pillow and attached it to the P-10 hose approximately under my neck. I am able to move from right side to left side and occasionally on my stomach and so far have avoided any tangles. So far, so good but it's only been for two nights. I really like the P-10 better than the other two because I have to use a chin strap and I can put it over the P-10 but have to wear it under the other two frames to avoid pinching the air supplies. I plan on trying a P-30 one of these days.

So you would rather starve for air and most likely disturb your sleep rather that get a few centrals that mean nothing. Unless your centrals increased to the point that your AHI was very high with mostly centrals grouped together....they mean nothing.

I've found that using a hose hanger that brings the tube down vertically works for me for both the P10 and the Swift FX. This sort of thing:

Keeps the hose under control, like it was hanging from the sky *smile*. I've used this with all my masks since I first got one early on, very helpful.

I have been using the P30i for many weeks now. Went on a bike trip recently and used my P10 and the travel setup for 9 days. Done ok with that. Was glad to get back to the humidifier and P30i when I got home. Tried my ole trusty Nuance Pro last night. Wanted to see if it would lower the AHI a bit. It did, like always when comparing it to others. But....

The masks with a hose in front cause me to wake up to "fix" them a few times a night.

The masks with the substantial amount of venting out the nose piece keep me up even more!

My AHI is till good with the P30i. But the quality of my sleep with the P30i is simply a LOT better than with any other mask! That is what we are after. I probably average around a 1 AHI with it. But I can sleep all night and never have to touch the hose or move to keep the vented air from slamming into my arm, pillow or blanket ( and waking me ).

I simply don't want to use a front mounted hose when I have an alternative. I sleep better without the hose wrapped around my neck......

Last night I increased pressure to 7 and relief to 3. Still woke up at my usual witching hour and changed back to the p10. Not sure why I am having this issue with the p30. Will give it a few more nights and see how it goes.

I own both the P10 and P30i. I stopped using the P30i because I kept waking up when using it for some reason. I used a Snuggle hose cover with the P10 now and am much happier. Usually I drape the hose over my chest or tuck it under my buckwheat pillow.

I usually have a hose cover on and draped up and over the headboard which mimics a hose hanger. Glad to hear that I am not the only one having trouble with the p30 .

Absolutely you are not alone! The P10 is the only mask I can tolerate. I have not tried the N30i however.

I have both too. I bought the N301 and then added an M size pillow to make it into a P301 :D . This week I have gone back to the P10 as I have way less leaks than with the P301. The P 10 has a way smaller foot print ….. that after 10 years of different masks is what I wanted. I have a hose buddy so the front hose is not bothering me at all. I seriously thought about trying the Bleep, but I am allergic to most tapes and am on a limited budget, so decide against that idea. The continued purchase of pillows would break this bank. With my trusty old P10 I can get months and months out of the pillows and use the boiling water trick when they start to fade.
Anyone want to buy my N301/P301 just shoot me a pm.

Cheers
Nan

I have a P10 and I run the hose up under the strap. Having it come off the top of my head works nice for tossing and turning all night. If there's not enough slack in your strap you could attach it in some other way. A twist tie would likely work just fine.
