Nasal mask cutting off air?

Hi All,

I just received my equipment today and will have my first experience with a home CPAP tonight. So excited to try to get a good nights sleep after years of being sleepy all. the. time. That said, I tried on my new DreamWisp Nasal CPAP mask and the top part that fits against the bridge of my nose seems to close it a bit which makes it harder to breathe through my nose. Is this common? Will a nasal strip help push my nostrils more open? It seems to happen with the small, medium, and large inserts. Is it something I just need to get used to and will clear up when the pressure ramps up from the level 4 that it's at when I start the machine?

That's the same area that caused me to ditch the Wisp. It puts a slight amount of pressure on that bridge of my nose area and unfortunately the slightest amount of pressure causes congestion.
You probably are going to need a mask that doesn't touch that area of your nose at all.
It's a common problem with a lot of people.

I only lasted 90 minutes with the Wisp...longest 90 minutes of my life. Thought for sure that the night was almost over when I woke up for the gazillionth time to pull it off my nose so I could breath and I changed back to my prior mask....and much to my dismay when I look at the software reports the next day I had only made it 90 minutes before I changed masks.
I simply can't wear anything that touches that area of my nose.

Thanks Pugsy I fear that might be the case with me as well. I’m going to try it with a nasal strip to see if that can keep my nostrils open otherwise I’ll be looking for a new mask tomorrow. I do quite like this one compared to the big bulky nasal mask they gave me at the sleep study.

I used the Wisp for several months.
I was unable to use the reversible fabric frame because it let the cushion press down on my nose.
I used the silicone frame, which held the cushion over my nose without pressing down.
The difference is substantial.

My experience was the same. Never been able to use any mask covering the bridge of my nose. Feels like I can't get any air in.

I use the breathe right strips every night and find they help.. But get the clear for sensitive skin, they are easier to remove with soap and water the original ones are super adhesive..
