New Fisher Paykel Mask coming
The place where I buy masks here in Canada tells me that there is a new Fisher Paykel nasal mask coming. The mask is called Opus (or Opis -not sure of the spelling) and is supposed to be launched in a few weeks.
I've done a web search for info but have found none. In and of itself, this is meaningless as I generally can't even find my own e-mail. I'm hoping that one of you clever folk have some info on this mask.

Thanks for the welcoming words, Josie! I've been lurking for some time now, but have not had anything to say -well, not until I saw people commenting about Rested Gal. I could not let that thread go by without contributing my thoughts about her; I figure that she pretty much saved my life back in the beginning when I was struggling.
I was really hoping that folks on this board would have some info on "Opus," and I have received a private response with some really helpful info. I'm going to keep looking and will let folks on this board know what I find.
Thanks again for the welcome!

Hey, no fair giving ideas for the mask decoration contest!

Found this on Google, hope it's not as painful as it sounds! ... MODEL HC234 (AND RELATED ACCESSORIES) FISHER & PAYKEL HEALTHCARE, LTD. ... FROM FDA DEVICE: OPUS MAGNUM ANCHOR WITH INSERTER OPUS MEDICAL, INC. ... probably seals well if it uses an anchor, don't even want to think about the inserter!

Full marks for sleuthing, Padacheek, but the link that you posted refers to an implant used in surgical repair of shoulder (rotator cuff) injury. Me-thinks it is not in any way connected to a new CPAP mask.
Thanks for looking! I found zilch online but I have to admit that I'm pretty useless when it comes ot web searching.

HH,
Good try.
I did the Google search too and found it is for a submission to the FDA in 2004 for the following:
Predicate Devices: Fisher & Paykel, HC200 CPAP Humidifier, K(973161)
Opus reference is something totally different. Just happens that Opus Medical is mentioned in the same PDF as the humidifier.
In a couple years, an anchor device may just be the hot topic on this forum and something we will find that we cannot live without. No doubt, we will be finding ways to improve on it by cutting, chopping, covering, tying, gluing, accessorizing, etc. Perhaps it is to eliminate leaks but it may be to ensure compliance, so the user doesn’t tear off the mask in the middle of the night…or go use the bathroom.
Would you like a straight or Auto anchor? An auto will eliminate the need of having to go to the sleep lab to determine the exact weight one will need and it will discourage those that work out to defeat it.javascript:emoticon('')
