I'm at my local Target where they now carry Xlear. All the registers have crashed nationwide. Guess I won't be trying this today.
That can be fun!
We got stuck at a Home Depot once when their credit card system crashed. Almost nobody checked out until it was fixed.

I used Flonase (or the Costco equivalent) for quite a long time and then decided I didn't want the steroid. Read about something called NasalCrom in The people's pharmacy and it has been great!

From your link:
Do not use this medication to treat sinus infection, asthma, or cold symptoms.

This medication is not an antihistamine and does not provide immediate relief from allergic symptoms. It should be used before contact with the allergen.

People get nervous about using corticosteroids such as Flonase because they wrongly associate them with male hormone-related steroid compounds. They are two completely different substances.
Corticosteroids are man-made drugs that closely resemble cortisol, a hormone that your adrenal glands produce naturally. Corticosteroids are often referred to by the shortened term "steroids." Corticosteroids are different from the male hormone-related steroid compounds that some athletes abuse.

I have read that corticosteroids thin skin when used for long periods of time. I have read articles that discuss the thinning of nasal tissue -- could have just been anecdotal, think it was a member here.

The scientific evidence for mucosal thinning does not support the anecdote.
Intranasal steroids and the myth of mucosal atrophy

Although reversible atrophy of keratinized skin is seen with corticosteroids, the respiratory mucosa is histologically very different and (sic) but concerns remain among patients and some health-care professionals over local side effects on nasal respiratory mucosa.

...

CONCLUSION:
The concept of nasal mucosal atrophy is poorly defined and there is no histological evidence for deleterious effects from INCS use on human nasal mucosa.

I've now gone three nights without Afrin, using Alegra,Nasacort and Xlear. Looking good. Thanks for the recommendation!

Good to know. Thanks! It it my last resort when Xclear, Ocean in a can (not squeeze bottle), Grossan Nasal Irrigator are not clearing the congestion for more than an hour or so. I am thinking of swabbing nose with hypoclorous acid and/or MSM gel as both breakup biofilms. HA is remarkably effective against pathogens. I spray it on all cuts as it's been used since the '70 (I think) for would cleansing. I might have fungus residing is nose...gross. HA spray works well for blepharitis. Tried it on my mask but the swimming pool scent is just too strong and distracting for me, even after a vinegar rinse.

Since I had a cold this past winter I noticed that I still get nasal congestion each night, would a menthol additive to the water in the humidifier be helpful?
I had a bad cold this winter and I had to use a nasal spray ( Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride .05% ) to breath at night and it seems each night now at least one
nostril closes, once that happens I never fall back to sleep. I know nasal spray would quickly address the issue but it is addictive.
Would love to get more sleep time, any suggestions?
I had very similar nasal issues to you before I got my CPAP treatment working effectively. I used anti-histamine and decongestants for a while but then someone taught me this trick to do just before going to sleep.

Take a normal breath in
Let a little bit of air out
Hold your breath
Hold until about 5 seconds after your first desire to take a breath.
When you start breathing again, breathe only though your nose (even if it is still blocked) and as gently as possible. You don't want to be able to hear (and only barely feel) air coming in your nose.
If your nose is not clearer, repeat this a few times with about 15 seconds break between each time.
Once clear, mask up and then I find it stays clear for the night.

Takes a little bit of practice but is very effective.

Do you take some medicine from it? I would like to recommend that you have a look at the service called Canadian Pharmacy, for example. I think you will find something helpful to you there. Good luck with it!

Do you think some natural medicine can help?
No. Unless, you consider saline rinses "natural".

This is one popular type - https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/neilm ... 07-product

Personally, I prefer neti pot nasal saline rinse.

BTW, you would do better to start your own thread and go into some detail - what exactly is your problem, what are your machine and humidifier settings, etc.
