Well then, would you mind buying a nice tri-band mobile radio, preferably a Yaesu or ICOM, (maybe Kenwood), I'm in the market for one and would like to snap up a new model at an attractive introductory discount.
I would not be surprised if I could pull that off for you. Another example - I bought a shiny, new Yaesu Fusion radio and a few months later, the local club added a new DMR repeater and now no one's on Fusion. If it weren't for APRS, I'd never have a reason to power it on... Dangit.

I do suggest that it did--was reanimated, then hijacked.prodigyplace wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 1:04 pmAre you saying the thread should have croaked?chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 12:58 pmCan it really be a hijacking if the ship sailed THREE YEARS AGO?![]()

I've often wondered about that over the years, but then I think about the "less-than-knowledgeable" employees at the DME shops trying to make changes.........and then I think it would be folly to believe that the manufacturers could actually make it happen. Besides, at some point (sooner of later), WE the users actually own the machines and at that point, the doctors, DMEs, RTs or the manufacturers should have nothing to say about whether we can actually make changes to our settings.Gryphon wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 1:17 pmMaybe they're trying to come up with some craptastic way of keeping us from getting into the machine to make changes? or of reworking the data into some new secret squirrel code that no one but them and the overworked/don't care doctors can analyze... Hmmm...
Do we have enough pull so if PAP manufactures try to make it so the user of the machine can't get into it or if the data is hidden even more that we all would be able to tell them exactly where they can stick their new machine?
Just wondering if ya'll think the trend is moving towards allowing easier access to data and machine settings or is this just the calm before some new storm of obfuscation.
I'm not sure how much of a change they could make honestly given what is on offer at the moment... Maybe a bit smaller? There lots of things they "Could" add... but they wouldn't so... I'm just wondering.
What would be so interesting about an 11 Series PAP that is so important? More megapixels? Maybe Alexa integration so she would understand me better when I tell her to cut the lights off with my mask on? What ever...
I'd love to see a machine that has a WIFI card or an Ethernet port on it so I could hard wire it to my network and transfer data directly to my computer each night with out working with a wireless SD card. But that falls inline with Providing the patient "Too Much Information" and the DME's and Doctors wouldn't like that. We all know they're the real customer of the PAP companies not the people who actually use the silly things. Then again if it's on the network... that brings into play some twit hacker using my CPAP machine for his next DOS attack and I'd be stuck trying to figure out what the Fling Flip is wrong with my machine at 3AM one night... so maybe we don't put them online. Shrugs...
I'm more or less happy with what my machine is doing now.... I'm not going to hold my breath or worry about it till I see adverts or everyone getting excited on this forum.
PS: I find it rather funny that this is such an old thread. It kind of proves Palerider right... he did tell the OP not to hold their breath and 3 years later... "I told you so?"![]()
Restwell what ever machine you may have,

I'd think it'd be more of a salvage operation.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 12:58 pmCan it really be a hijacking if the ship sailed THREE YEARS AGO?
Better treatment algorithms, ones that learn and adjust, a true "auto" mode that would result in better treatment over time.
Well ya but couldn't they firmware blast that to us now? If we have a 10 with cellular modem?

Humans sleep and breathe differently every night depending on, but not limited to, type of activity during the day, foods eaten, alcohol consumed, body hydration level, weather, bedroom conditions, sleep deprivation level, allergies, mental stress level, etc.
I don't think anything about what they're going to do, I'm not very good at predicting the future...Gryphon wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 1:55 pm... but do you think they have any new code that's going to be marketability different then what we already have?
Some sort of AI learning algorithm that actually remembers and creates a saved profile on the machine or SD card that gets tweaked over and over each night till your "just right" would be really cool... but like you said before... I'm not holding my breath.
