Aromatherapy drops???
Aromatherapy drops???
Does anyone use, or know of anyone using, aromatherapy oil drops (Euchalyptus, peppermint, lavendar, etc...)? I was thinking of putting a small amount of drop(s) into the water reservior to 'enjoy' while sleeping. I have a Resmed S7 machine with the Mirage Swift Nasal Pillow and the Resmed Humidaire 2i heated humidifier.
Sorry if this has been discussed, but I did a search and didn't find anything specific about this. Thank you!
Cheers,
Ian (newbie)

The question comes up (in various "flavors") quite frequently.....and the answer is ALWAYS the same.
The ONLY thing that goes in your heated humidifier is DISTILLED WATER. PERIOD.
Best wishes,
Den

a no no
I wouldn't put anything in but distilled water, pre cpap i would have a scented candle burning in the room.......however for some reason, when I began cpap having a scented candle burning in the room with the cpap macine on blew my face up like a balloon so if I were you i'd say no no to scented anything! IMHO
Ian,
I agree that some fragrances would be nice....I'm sure we've all thought about it....but for hours at a time? That might get to be a bit too much.
If anybody's tried it, they haven't admitted to it on this forum.

most of those fragrances are designed to be dispersed into the air, not concentrated up your shnoz.
Too much of a good thing CAN be bad for you.

What you can try instead of putting anything in your humidifier water is taking a couple of drops of the scented oil and putting it on something absorbant near the air intake on your machine. That way you can still get the aroma without really adding it directly to the machine. I tried this with Vicks to help keep my nose open. It did that, but it was not a smell I wanted to experience the whole night. Try it and see if it does anything for you.
Sucking Wind since Feb '06.
If you're determined to try SOMETHING.....I would be more inclined to put a little dab of it inside the mask.....that way it can be washed out and it won't get inside of your machine.Sleepless in St. Louis wrote:What you can try instead of putting anything in your humidifier water is taking a couple of drops of the scented oil and putting it on something absorbant near the air intake on your machine. But, I still wouldn't advise doing it. Even the best of smells could really turn you off to it after too much time.

So grow a mustache! When I'm stopped up, I just spread a little Vicks on my mustache. I've found it works great under the full face mask also. Guess if I wanted to smell flowers I could do the same thing. Of course, if you're a female, that might not be a popular solution.
