PB 420E Heated Humidifier Question

Last night something rather strange happened.

I filled my PB 420E humidifier as usual, went to bed, read for about 15 minutes, strapped on my UMFF mask, turned off the light and headed for sleepy-land. About 2 hours later, I woke after having really strange dreams about having made my own mask and the mask in my dreams was leaking really badly, blowing air all over the place and was darn uncomfortable. When I got awake enough, I noticed my heated humidifier wasn't heating and I was getting a cold (room temp= 70 degrees) blast of air blowing on my face. YIKES! I hadn't changed the setting from the last oh, month or 3 or so, and it's been doing really well at maintaining nice, heated, moist air. I jacked it up to about 2.5 or 3 or so and went back to sleep. A few hours later, I woke again and it was just barely warm, so I raised it up to about 3.5 and slept the rest of the night. When I woke, I noticed I still had about 1/3 - 1/4 a tank of water left, which was unusual. I usually fill to a little above the fill line and go through almost a full tank each night at a setting of 1.5 or so.

So, basically, 2 questions about the HH on the PB 420E for those of you out there using them. 1) What level do you have yours set on? 2) How much water do you go through in a typical night?

Hi, Kajun.
I use a heated hose, with a snuggle hose on to of that, and have my humidifier on about 2. More than that, and it feels too hot.

I couldn't say how much water I use - it never seems like much, and when I fill the humidifier, the water is about the height of the flat part (halfway to the fill line more or less I guess, I never really look at it.

It stands to reason that if the room is much colder, and/or the water you start out with is much colder,then the humidifier will have more of a struggle to heat the water.

I think the amount of water used also depends on your pressur - my nightly average is about 6.5.
I hope this helps, and I hope its really only a seasonal issue.
