New & can't find my issue.

Post by Claraball » Mon May 13, 2019 3:34 pm

Hi, I am about a month into using a ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset and a ResMed Airfit F 30 mask. I am using the CPAP to show the FAA that the CPAP is helping with my mild sleep apnea. My Dr. ran the at home test. So far the recording is showing I am getting a 99 or 100 score on about 8 hours sleep every night.

My problem is I don't think I am...The tubing that keeps me tethered to the machine gives me lots of problems. I grew up with a big fear of snakes. I sleep, predominantly, on either side and that tubing is a big "snake" to me. I wake up with it all around my neck and head...

Hi,

Welcome to the zoo. :). I use a hose cover. I made my own in pink but you can buy them as well. Here are some examples.

Is your fear of snakes driven by the Story of Gensis?

If it is, just remind your self that it's not a snake. Also, as already suggested, decorate it to look and feel as unsnakelike as possible.

Fix up some sort of hose management system so you can't get it wrapped all around you.

Plus there are many different types offered that you can just buy ready made.
Just google "cpap hose management"

When you cover it with a hose cover, it will be bigger, then think of it as a elephant's trunk, problem solved. Be sure to remove the leaves and twigs from the bed before you make it up. Jim

Thanks for all the quick replies to my little issue. Suspending it over the bed is the best answer for me. Prime is sending me one that will do that in 2 days. I will always have the issue of feeling "staked" to the bed.

Consider asking your supplier about trying the Dreamwear full face mask. The hose connects on top of your head and goes behind the pillow, you never see it or have to wrestle with it at all. The mask itself is similar to the F30, though I do find the F30 more comfortable on the face and especially right where the nose meets the upper lip, but you don't have my face and it might work for you.
