Let me echo Kate here, and also say I’m sorry for confusing things by mentioning Sleepyhead. It’s a program that is being replaced with Oscar, so if you’re looking at Oscar, you’re on exactly the right track.
sorry for the possible derailment! i know that people talk in certain ways. and i know oscar is out there. but will it really replace sleepyhead?

i'm not trying to argue. i just want to know what stance i should take with newbies. tell them sleepyhead? tell them oscar? or list both? it doesn't matter to me, because it's not like *I* am going to be doing any reading of charts.

just askin'.

and now back to your regularly scheduled thread, already in progress....
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

No worries, good question. I have no idea. All I know is I understand Oscar will work with my machine. I don't know about the other one.

It should, given time, unless SH development is started up again... because as newer machines are introduced, they require changes to the program to be able to be read.

I'd say, recommend OSCAR, since it, at least at this point, is the only path forward.

For simplicity, let’s just go with Oscar today.

I was being attacked by paleface before I even started asking questions. This is a fact, I have a respironics dream station, and the clinic changed it from a steady 8 to a variable 8-12. Why is that so hard to understand?
We understand it. What YOU were not understanding is that you had the WRONG machine listed in you profile. And when we help people, we don't go back and re-read all the posts looking for the machine type. We look at the profile. So, it needs to be correct. Dreamstation is the name on all current machines by Respironics. It's like telling us you have a Ford. We don't know if it is a truck, van, or car. By knowing which machine you have, we can give better advice.

I have no idea what you mean by what stage I am at. Last nights reading on dreammapper said my ahi was 13.6. Total clear airway appears were 12, total obstructive apnea so 93, total hypopneas 5. All Spanish to me.

We would be happy to help you, but you keep getting mad at us and you seem reluctant to actually answer the questions we ask.

Dreammapper is basically useless to actually improving your therapy. It doesn't give us details.

For example, your ahi is 13.6. That is an average per hour. It doesn't tell us what kind of events, how long they were, and if they were spread out or clustered. Those are important details. That is why we use sleepyhead software. It HAS that information.

It is a little helpful to see the number of different events, but since we don't know how long the time period is, it is not completely helpful. Straight numbers are better than nothing, but sleepyhead shows the graphs with the events during the night so that we can really see the info. Also, that pressure line is VERY important.

Please read the sticky post at the top and PLEASE get sleepyhead or oscar and post the graphs from a typical night. Your ahi really needs to get below 2, and while it is great to take control and do it yourself (rather than waiting for doctors, many of which don't really know what to do and think ahi of 5 is good); it is much better to make changes based on the data and graphs.

I now have the correct machine pictured. I am waiting on a card reader for my computer. Once I get that and my new computer up and running I can do what you ask. Not trying to be difficult lol, but almost all of this is new to me.

Got my clinic appt bumped up 10 days, on a list in case someone cancels earlier than that. Trying to decide if I should make my own pressure adjustment.

Thanks for doing this. It means if one of us is not around when you need help, someone else can come in and give you some support.

We were all new to this at one point.
