Help Newbie Navigate Through CPAP Companies!

Hello
I just got a CPAP prescription today for APAP/mask, etc... My doctor went ahead without checking with me first, and contacted a CPAP supply company, which I initially thought was fine. Within 2 hours, I was getting SPAM texts from the company, and a phone call. I looked up their info, and they have hundreds of terrible reviews mentioning overcharging, never get back to customers, SPAMing, used equipment, etc.... Scary! I contacted my insurance to ask what companies I have to choose from, but they are closed now for the weekend.

Looking into other CPAP supply companies in my area revealed similar complaints. What?? I didn't expect this. They all have terrible reviews.
Any tips for navigating through all of this? Is it better to just bypass insurance on this? Although the cost would be high that way. Any help is appreciated!

I tried to go through the traditional route. Bad experience.
Luckily for me I have the financial ability to afford and purchase all the equipment I need and did so.
I then used this forum to get my therapy on track and doing well.
If you are a confident self assured individual and have the finances to do it. I recommend doing as I did.
The people on here are very knowledgeable and helpful.
You will be way ahead of the game than if you go traditional. (with insurance and a DME)
Others will be here soon to advise further.

It depends on your insurance and your deductible and even what area you live in. It sounds like you already are starting your due diligence. . You want something that is auto and you can get your data from.

I have the resmed air-curve 10 but I need the more expensive
bi-level machine. I am sure more people will chime in.

Thanks! If I buy a cpap unit, will I be able to put in the settings myself (APAP range)? Can I adjust them myself, too?
