JT: Please post in this thread if you're a jerk.

Post by jnk... » Wed May 01, 2019 8:20 pm

"JT" stands for "jerk thread."

A poster in another thread has said that this forum is "full of jerks." This statement caught me off guard, since I wasn't aware of this problem, myself. So, if you don't mind, please do me a favor and post in this thread to let me know if you are a jerk so I can be aware of who is who and what is what around here.

Thanks!

First we must define the term jerk.

According to the urban dictionary :
"Jerk - The kind of guy most girls ACTUALLY want when they say they want a Nice Guy.

Jerks are selfish, manipulative bastards who see women as little more then sexual conquests to brag about to their buddies or mere objects that are there for their personal pleasure. As to ensure the post-sex breakup will be in their favor, Jerks often play the "sensative guy" early on so the girl will make most of the moves on HIM, and after he's done with her and dumps her for some other girl just like her, he can make it look like she's at fault for coming on too strong, and consequently she'll take him back if he chooses to return for seconds.

Nope don't fit that one.

The free dictionary defines it as:
"1. To give a sudden quick thrust, push, pull, or twist to.
2. To throw or toss with a quick abrupt motion.
3. To utter abruptly or sharply: jerked out the answer.
4. To make and serve (ice-cream sodas, for example) at a soda fountain.
5. Sports To press (a weight) overhead from shoulder height in a quick motion."

Nope not that one.

The medical dictionary:

"jerk [jerk] a sudden reflex or involuntary movement."

Nope not that one either. Whew.

Merriam Webster:
"1a : an annoyingly stupid or foolish person
was acting like a jerk
b : an unlikable person
especially : one who is cruel, rude, or small-minded
a selfish jerk"

Um well hmmm. Maybe a ? :D 8)

Thanks. That helps.

If being 'annoying' is all it really takes, I'm pretty sure I qualify, myself.

I mean, I lived in NYC for some 32 years where that sort of thing is a respected art form. So I'm sure I must have picked up some of those abilities on the street during that time.

By that definition, I guess it would be everyone who isn't Canadian. I understand it's illegal there.

It may be illegal in Canada but when they come down here for the winter, they seem to embrace our culture. Their driving alone qualifies them as annoying.

If feeling that it's necessary to wash my equipment more than once means I'm a jerk?

Here I am.

Mask Leakage with higher preassure

Post by babybear » Thu May 02, 2019 6:24 am

Hello
My average pressure used to be around 6 with the auto Dreamstation but now that I have the Airsense 10 for her and I am getting the proper treatment, my pressure is now averaging 12. However, now I am having problems with alot of mask leakage. I use the LT Swift for her nasal pillows and I have tried other nasal cushions but they all leak and wake me up. I also tried the Dreamwear FFM and I still have problems. I don't feel like 12 is that high a pressure so I am perplexed as to why I keep leaking. It seems like I solve one problem and it creates another. Can anyone offer any help please. Thank you for your time in advanced. :)

One common problem is that we often tend to overtighten our masks, since we intuitively think that a leak means something isn't tight enough. Many modern masks need to fit loosely on the face so that the pressure can inflate the masks' seal.

Adjusting the mask while lying down is usually better than trying to adjust it sitting up.

Hose management is the key for many. Some elevate the hose and route it so that the pull of the hose is the same in every sleep position.

Other than that, it's mostly a matter of finding the right mask for your face, which is a highly individual thing.

You are correct that 12 isn't very high in the grand scheme of things, but it is still high enough to make mask selection, hose management, tightness, etc. important factors in successful therapy.

This thread was set up to be a foolishness thread, so many helpful people may not look inside it to see your important and welcomed question. Feel free to create your own thread asking for help at any time on this board. That is what the board is about--not just diversion threads like the ones I tend to create and perpetuate.
