Periodic Breathing/Cheyne Stokes

Post by cocacola22 » Wed May 01, 2019 9:46 am

Hi all,
I know this topic has probably been exhausted, and most cases of people seeing periodic breathing is just "waxing-and-waning" of breathing. I know Cheyne stokes looks like this, however:

I'm starting to see some times of periodic breathing in getting used to my CPAP. I had a take-home test and had a CPAP prescribed, but no mention of periodic breathing. Currently I'm using a Respironics Auto.
Here's last night's data. I had one periodic breathing that lasted for 2 minutes and 18 seconds:

And another that lasted 2 minutes and 36 seconds:

Do these look like anything to be concerned about? Normally, it looks like my periodic breathing per night ranges from 0.70-2.8%. I've only been using a CPAP for 2 weeks.
This was a period from one of the first nights:

Should I be worried? Or do you guys think this is normal?
Edit: I forgot to say, I'm age 22 and on my dad's side, my grandpa had heart problems. Nobody else in the family though that I know of.

When I first started therapy I had a few short episodes like yours. They concerned me also.
After a while they went away. I have had no more episodes since. Several months.
Sometimes it takes our bodies time to adjust to all these things we are doing to it.
I am no expert. Just letting you know my experience started like you.
Other people much better at this will be along to say more.

Nope, nothing to be concerned about.

THIS is something to be concerned about:
