I done a pretty thorough write up on the Z1 that I have. If the Z2 is quieter, that is a good start! But the Q-muffler probably makes up most of that difference. The biggest issue with noise, and what I hope they addressed, is the huge increase in noise during inhalation.

Assuming it comes with the same hose as the Z1, you will be MUCH happier with the travel hose for it! That in itself was a bigger noise reduction than you would believe without trying it yourself.

The new Z2 comes with a 4" slim hose. I had purchased an extra 6' 15mm hose, and also a standard 19mm hose when I originally bought the Z1.
IMHO, I'll probably use the standard 19mm hose since it seems a bit quieter. The Q-Tube reduces the noise that travels up the hose to your mask.
The actual motor noise on the Z2 is reduced regardless of the Q tube. There is still a bit of the whining noise as you transition from inhale to exhale.
All in all, it's better than the Z1 series, but still could be a bit quieter. It would help of they would add an EPR off (Z-Breathe) setting. You can pick 1-3, with 1 the mildest EPR, and also the quietest. The unit would be quieter if they allowed EPR Off.

Any way you could perhaps do a youtube video of you actually using the device? All the videos so far are just people turning it on or talking about specs, but no one has put it on and gotten it really close to a mic so we can determine how loud it is (and whether it will bother our partner).

Does the AirMini or Z2 provide EPR style exhaust relief? Do either provide APAP?

There are 2 Z2, the Z2, and the Z2 auto. Z2 Auto is APAP.
Both have EPR.

The Air Mini is both APAP, and has EPR.
