sometimes in order to succeed it just takes one more try. and a lot of frustration along the way.
Re: zonker's crib
what's that? you say you want more? why, certainly-
and i will say for the record that i am waking up feeling better than i have in the longest time. as you can plainly see, i'm using pressure of 13.8-20. and i'm doing so without any difficulty at all.
my aerophagia seems to be a thing of the past. there was a slight remnant which presented as gas. not the stomach stretchingly painful gas of true aerophagia. but uncomfortable, nonetheless. what seems to be clearing up that last vestige of it is maybe two things. i'm using ginger in the form of hard candy. and i'm using low doses of melatonin.
from what muse inc posted, ginger can fight heartburn or as you fancy people call it, gerd. i have very, very few boats of heartburn, despite being diagnosed with a light hiatal hernia. but i have been having digestion problems throughout. i've found that ginger has helped with this.
but also, due to this forum, i've found that i've been taking TOO MUCH melatonin. so i've scaled that back. also, chicago granny posted a study showing that melatonin can aid in digestion too. (it was not in those words;i'm freely interpreting.) and ginger has a bit of melatonin too.
all of this seems to be resulting in a more solid sleep. i'm starting to see nights of 5-6 hours without my being aware that i'm waking up!! the rest of my "bed time" i'm just content to lay falling in and out of sleep until i feel like getting up.
this just great news and i'm very pleased by it. there is room for improvement and i plan to keep going at it to improve my quality of sleep.
i'm also getting more exercise. many of you wouldn't consider it true exercise. but i keep moving. after breakfast and checking a few forums, i walk in the late morning for about an hour. in the evening, i'm on my spin bike for 45 minutes. strewn about, i do chair yoga and water aerobics. two or three times a week, i take the dog for an additional walk in the woods for about 1/2 an hour.
i want to thank everyone on this forum for helping me, either directly or indirectly.
excelsior!

I should've waited for you to finish talking indeed. i hope your sleep keeps getting better and better, and your overall health as well. you sound like a spring chicken! good on you, chuffed to bits for you, pleased as punch you're doing so much better.
and that "pleased as punch" made me think of the 1968 presidential campaign!

Well first of all, way to go! I’m fairly new to the forum, but I already know how many people you’ve helped, and it’s great you’re feeling good. What went around came around, for once.
And could I just say that, um, YES that sounds like exercise to me?
Finally, any special time of day you consume ginger products? And maybe I missed it, but any particular brand and quantity? I ask as someone whose fancy doctor diagnosed her with GERD.

i've sourced the ginger locally at a place called Natural Market. it bears the label of Zot Organic Ginger Hard Candy. gluten free. back says organic rice syrup, organic manioc syrup, organic licorice extract, natural ginger flavor.
it also shows a web site of www.zotorganic.com.
i haven't gotten to the point where i'm consuming it at a particular time. i should prolly work on that. i've eaten mainly after dinner.
oh and i'm taking just one piece of the candy, which is about 3.5 grams.
also, see muse-inc post here-

good luck!

Nice results, Z! Good to read that you've been working on your Sleep Hygiene, too.

Re: zonker's crib
it's odd, isn't it? when i first came to the forum, chicago granny seemed to post that sleep hygiene list a LOT. or maybe it was just something new to me. but it seems, over the years, that it doesn't get posted as often.Jay Aitchsee wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 6:50 amNice results, Z! but i remember practically recoiling in horror at the very sight of it! not for me, i vowed. that's just too damned much. and in many ways, it still IS. i'm just sort of nibbling around the edges of it. i'm not doing wight training. i haven't forsaken caffeine.
but i am doing what i described. and the coffee intake has gone down from 6 cups to (almost!) 3. i'm switching my caffeine delivery system from coffee to green tea. i have no idea if i'll ever get to zero coffee intake, but who knows? what i'm doing now, in my almost 65th year, feels right.
