Bleep/DreamPort Adhesive Sticky Situation
Bleep/DreamPort Adhesive Sticky Situation
I've been using the Bleep/DreamPort for almost a week, and I love it. I've been following the Bleep/DreamPort mask review thread, but haven't seen my issue come up. I wasn't sure if I should post this there. I chose not to since it's not about a review, but I'm sorry if I've made a newbie mistake. I've been reading this board for a few month, but this is my first post.
In the morning when I remove the DreamPort, a thin film of adhesive remains on my nose. Washing my face or re-wiping with witch hazel doesn't seem to take it off. The most luck I've had is to use the left over pieces of tape I cut from the DreamPort from the night before to press on and off the film hoping it will stick to the fresh adhesive on those little pieces. It works okay, but my nose still remains pretty tacky basically all day.
Before putting on the DreamPorts in the evening I wash my face and wipe the bottom of my nose with witch hazel. I have extremely oily skin, but I haven't had any trouble so far with the DreamPorts leaking for the 7-8 hours I sleep. I do suspect that my face oils are breaking down the adhesive in this weird way causing my problem.
I know this seems like a very small thing, but I am highly sensitive to adhesive. There is only one specific band aid I can use. It is a miracle to me that the DreamPort adhesive doesn't seem to be causing me any problems (knock on wood)! I'm really afraid, though, that leaving adhesive on my skin day after day will cause overexposure and eventual irritation.
Have any of you using the Bleep/DreamPort experienced this issue and figured out how to get all the adhesive off your nose?

Re: Bleep/DreamPort Adhesive Sticky Situation
Welcome to the forum.
I have had a small amount of residual adhesive remain in the mornings but it’s easily removed with soap and water.
Let me check with Stuart to see what kind of solvent could be maybe used that would do a better job of removing the adhesive film when soap and water doesn’t quite do the trick.
Or maybe one of the other Bleep users has already tried something.
It’s fine that you posted a new topic...but Stuart is following the Bleep review thread and may not see your thread.
Could you do me a big favor and make a quick post/reply in the review thread with a link back to this thread so Stuart can see it?
I would normally do it myself but I am on my iPad right now and haven’t mastered link adding on it. Computer challenged with it.

Re: Bleep/DreamPort Adhesive Sticky Situation
Sometimes a feel a bit of glue round the edges of the bleep, I use a spot of Purell on a cotton pad to clean my nose before use and remove the glue if needed but that is alcohol and could be a bit severe if you’re sensitive but it works for me.

Re: Bleep/DreamPort Adhesive Sticky Situation
I've had a little bit at times, not enough to see, but I can feel it.. I usually just rub it off, but sometimes use a cotton ball with a bit of alcohol.
In the hospital, they had some little single use pads to remove adhesive (after I had an NG tube and my nose was covered in sticky goo), those smelled like lighter fluid. ick! (but, they worked great).

Thanks so much!
I'll try alcohol tomorrow morning and try to figure out the hospital grade stinky goo remover if necessary!

Glad you found your way to this great forum. I know the adhesive issue you mentioned. It happened to me too. I found a product online that helped me a lot. It is called Sensi Care Sting Free Adhesive Remover. It is alcohol free and leaves no residue. It is fragrance and dye free. It comes in a small box with 30 individually wrapped packets. I can't remember what it cost, but it works really well and didn't irritate my nose. I also have very sensitive skin. Hope this helps.
