Re: cleaning your water chamber
I run it though the dishwasher (top shelf)every few months if I think of it. I only use distilled water. The only time I had any trouble was when I used well water on vacation and saw pink slime. Only used boiled water then. I had used all my distilled and could not buy any without several expensive ferry trips. I now take more than I need.

Re: cleaning your water chamber
That sounds like Serratie Marcescens, a bacteria. Very commonly found in warm, damp areas such as shower cubicles. It can cause respiratory infections, especially if encountered in fine droplets and then inhaled.Islandwoman wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2019 5:00 pmI run it though the dishwasher (top shelf)every few months if I think of it. Re: cleaning your water chamber
If all you use is distilled water you really don't ever need to clean it.

Re: cleaning your water chamber
Unless you bought the special dishwasher safe camber, that is not recommended. Most everyone has the less expensive one.Islandwoman wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2019 5:00 pmI run it though the dishwasher (top shelf)every few months if I think of it. I only use distilled water. How to Determine if the Water Chamber is Dishwasher Safe?
AirSense™ 10, AirStart™ 10, and AirCurve™ 10 machines denote the water chamber model with an "S" or "C" label. Look directly above the maximum fill line located on the side of the chamber to find the word HumidAir™ and the corresponding letter embossed into the tank.
If the water chamber is dishwasher safe, the chamber will appear as HumidAir C, which represents a cleanable tank.
If the water chamber is the standard model, the chamber will appear as HumidAir S, which represents a standard tank.

Stuff can, (and does) grow in distilled water too.
One may not need to *descale* it, but sometimes cleaning is necessary.

Re: cleaning your water chamber
i don't think all distilled water is created equal. from my own experience, moving from the pacific northwest to flagstaff, the quality of the distilled water lessened and got more expensive. this makes sense as i now live in a high desert as apposed the quite damp northwest. water comes from different sources. and i'm okay with that.
so i end up still cleaning my tank periodically even using nothing but distilled water. no big.
i think this is just one of those discussions that will always happen particularly in this forum. i don't there is one answer that covers everyone. i think that on a general note, it's better to use distilled than not, especially for a lazy so 'n' so like me who doesn't like cleaning all that much!

Re: cleaning your water chamber
I don't fret over cleaning my water chamber - but the Dreamstation's chamber is dishwasher safe. I only stuck it in the dishwasher once because I never think of it.
And secretly I wonder if they say it's diswasher safe so eventually it will degrade and crack so you're forced to buy a new one.
