Putting the filter right up against the vents is the only way to make it quiet, that way it comes out diffused instead of a hard stream, if you get the filter diffuser away from the vents, then it makes noise when the stream hits the filter.Sleepy in GV wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 6:06 pmYes, it may be the vents.... just too much air or something. I do have the filter, but there is too much air to go right up against the vents. It is too noisy. I am going to go look at it and see if Jan's theory is right.

OH! Make sure that the silicone body bit and the plastic vent body are both curved in the same direction when you put them together, getting them half way opposed will cause a bad leak.Pugsy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 6:19 pmI am also thinking this area might be the culprit...and Stuart also thinking a possibility. He just sent me a picture this afternoon where the guy didn't have the silicone part fitted correctly to the part where the vent holes are and the guy was having leaks...once it was seated properly the leaks stopped. All it takes is one little spot being not quite sealed properly.Sleepy in GV wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 6:05 pmYou just might be right. I will try to look at that tonight. I will go take a pic too. I do think it has something to do with that area. Or the neck area.Jas_williams wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 10:36 amIt sounds to me that the vent piece is not properly inserted into the silicone can you pull it off remove it then pop it back on there is a slot on the edge of the vents that the silicone piece slots into maybe post a photo of your mask here and we can see if we can see anything obvious

I took it apart and back together again with Pugsy's help. Thank you for the idea Jas, that seems like the most likely culprit.
I am also going to get a new diffuser right up next to the vents. Going back over to the bleep thread to see how Palerider made the cuts.
Thanks everyone!

I used a pair of tiny scissors,, and just made a cross in the middle, that would fit within the circle of the connector on the bottom of the vent body... no larger, it fits very snug when pushed on, then really snug when you snap the hose back on.Sleepy in GV wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 7:04 pmI took it apart and back together again with Pugsy's help. Re: New User's First Post, Sleepy in GV's therapy thread
Folks, cross your fingers that we fixed the issue for Sleepy in GV. Won't know until she goes to bed.
One of her photos showed that just as Jas...Williams thought might be the case....a very slight "wrinkle" or unevenness on one side of the silicone where it attaches to the plastic part that contains the vent holes. The silicone didn't appear to be connected totally perfect in the grove where it sits. She took it off and put it back on and the follow up picture looked like that little one tiny area was back to looking like the other side looked. It wasn't the entire silicone that appeared off but just one side in one little spot.
Might explain the randomness of her leaks along with the fact it was really hard to feel exactly where the leak was coming from since it was so close to the vent holes.
Anyway, we did this a while before bedtime and she couldn't really check it out well until she attached the ports and she didn't want to waste them...and didn't want to go around the house for 3 hours with them stuck to her nose...
So we won't know the final results until she goes to bed but she promised to let me know in the morning.
If any of you guys/gals have problems or questions....speak up. Send me a PM if you don't want to go public. I don't mind PMs...I get them all the time from people that don't even post on the forum about all sorts of stuff. They feel uneasy about going public for some reason or other. I will still try to help. And I don't mind doing phone chats either. Sometimes it's just faster and easier that way.
If you want to make the Bleep work for you....then I want to do my best to help you get there.

I just folded my filter in half cut a short cut, folded in half the othe way cut another short cut then tested if it was too short cut a bit more when the cuts were long enough I could push it over the swivel at the bottom of the mask and then replaced the short hose on the swivelSleepy in GV wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 7:04 pmI took it apart and back together again with Pugsy's help. Re: New User's First Post, Sleepy in GV's therapy thread
Good Morning! I went to bed early, couldn't wait to see if we fixed the leak. I also put a new filter snugly up against the vents, from the top. (First time I went from the bottom, so it had to be larger to get over the connector piece and it never fit snugly, thus just got bent over and made too much noise). I knew for certain it was right. It was silent. There was not nearly the same amount of air blowing, a much more gentle stream, no noise at all. FIXED! It was heavenly!!
So just now, can't wait to see my leak line and my results. Pop in my card, and I am slightly disappointed at the result.
When I first went to bed, no leak, just a little blip here and there. Then an hour or so in, frequent leak. Now, I'm thinking must likely be my mouth, right? I already tape up, one horizontal strip across my lips. So I don't think that is correctable beyond what I am doing.
I LOVED how much better it felt. There was definitely something not quite right before, and I am certain that Jas and Pugsy helped correct it.
I will live with my mouth leak because now I won't fuss forever trying to fiddle fart around with trying to find a leak. There is definitely not air blowing everywhere with force.
I LOVED IT!!!!
P.S. Jas, I tried to attach photos yesterday and I failed. I think maybe they were too large or something. Pugsy did see them though via the phone and she did confirm a slight place where there was misalignment. I would have never seen it and I didn't even know those two pieces came apart. Now I see the logic behind everyone taking everything apart and putting it back together again. Wisdom of the elders (or simply from the wise)! Thanks everyone

Great love it you had a successful night., those leaks are tiny and nothing to worry about the leak graph auto resizes.
No worry’s about the pictures just glad you got the issue fixed and can now sleep in blissful silence. I love the Bleep Dreamway and i’m getting used to it hanging of my nose when moving about, I don’t notice it once I lie down, but do need to shave tonight my stubble felt weird last night (i dont’t shave every day too lazy)

Re: New User's First Post, Sleepy in GV's therapy thread
Insert happy dance gif here if I had one handy.....good job. Success.
Your taping is probably not totally sealed somehow but I wouldn't worry about it if it were me and I slept through them. Well below the limits of the machine to compensate for any leaks...well and far below. You see my 0.0 nights when I want to brag...what you don't see are the nights that aren't so stellar because of mouth breathing.
I have more less than stellar nights than I do 0.0 nights.
Most nights I don't make it to the 24 L/min mark but sometimes I do. See the report below....lots of mouth leaks and a less than stellar report.
I have always known that I did a little mouth breathing and before the Bleep was used I also knew I had quite a bit of mask movement leaks as well. The P10 is a great little mask but it does crawl up the back of the head sometimes and the headgear does stretch out with time so then it crawls even more. I could never really know for sure how much was mouth breathing and how much was mask movement because I didn't really want to tape again (I did it for 3 months or so when I first started therapy). So since the bigger leaks weren't common and rarely went into large leak territory for very long and more importantly....I slept through them...I simply chose to ignore them. I have discovered it happens mainly when I am on my back. Probably like most people when I am on my back the jaw drops down and the mouth opens. I try to avoid back sleeping because it actually causes me more back pain but like I always have said about avoiding anything...easier said than done. So I decided to just do the best I can and when I have less than stellar leak nights I shrug my shoulders, laugh at myself and move on.
So if you guys and gals are thinking that I always get 0.0 leak nights....go ahead and chuckle at my lack of perfection. I am far from perfect but it's not from the Bleep...it's from my big yap coming open. Sometimes it's just a little leaking and sometimes (very rare) I even have nights like the one a few nights ago...March 13 report below.
Yes, I like to pat myself on the back when I get a 0.0 leak night but I don't go beating myself up when I don't. My criteria mainly....do I sleep through it because my sleep is so fragile anyway that I just don't want to do something to make it more fragile. Taping is doable but having the tape on disturbs my sleep somewhat...and there's simply no urgent need for me to get a 0.0 leak night every night when taping would disturb my sleep a lot more than the non disturbance I get from random mouth breathing. I pick the lesser of 2 evils in terms of which affects my sleep quality the most. My sleep is already fragile from the pain stuff and I simply don't want to add more of anything that might make it even more fragile.
Oh...I also took the time to look at those flagged events....every single one of the was preceded by obvious arousal breathing...not one of those events happened when I was fully asleep....except maybe the last one which was sort of iffy. Probably related to arousals from the back pain stuff. It's been extra rough lately in terms of the pain what with all the changes in the weather and stuff. I know it's a battle I will always wage and sometimes I will win and sometimes the pain wins...a war that won't ever be totally over.

Thanks Dog Slobber. I used to have a happy dance penguin gif available at photobucket but they pissed me off when they changed things and I just haven't brought one over to imgur to use. It's way down on the bottom of my to do list and I just never manage to get it done.
