Re: Bleep/DreamPort nasal mask review thread

Well. Yesterday evening I got the best reward yet from using the DreamPort. My wife told me that she feels much better in the mornings "since you've started using that new mask. You don't wake me up so much".

I know that everyone hasn't followed my posts from the beginning - but this *IS* the reason that I made my initial visit to the sleep doctor. My snoring had gotten to the point that it prompted my wife to set up camp in a spare bedroom.

So this is a huge development. The initial goal of getting her moved back into our room happened pretty quickly. 04/24 I will have been at this for one year.

Hard to describe how happy I am about this. :) I didn't even call her out for calling it a mask.

Maybe this post should be in my therapy thread. I decided to put it here because there's no doubt that the DreamPort is what's making the difference.

I have had it all apart also. Sometimes on purpose and sometimes by accident but you know what...once I got good at putting it back together again I haven't had it come apart by accident anymore.
In general....
really noisy leak..that's because the ports aren't clicked in fully....can't miss that one...way too loud and you usually feel a good bit of air on the face.
minor leak that sort of comes and goes...check to see if the arms are in the correct spot.
quiet for a bit and then you hear a faint noise....check to see if the vented air is bouncing off something.

It is silent...totally silent when everything is attached and the vent isn't bouncing off something.
The arms?? What are they? And what is the correct spot?

My husband pointed out that I had one silent night - and since then I have had more noise.

I don't know the correct term but I just call them little arms and the dots are bumps that you can see and feel.

Incorrect placement....sorry a bit fuzzy ...intermittent leaking noise will happen

i had a persistent horizontal leak last night from one of the port connections. Any ideas how I caused this and how i can stop it?

Get the port clicked into the receiver. two clicks on each one.

I did that more than once, but still had a leak.

Were the little arms in the correct position?

was the 'body' on the hard plastic vent piece correctly?

not when I woke this morning. The leak seemed to come from the place that needs two clicks though. Do the arm pieces have a correct way round?

To Kate......

Must have been a night where the aliens were screwing with Bleep users last night. You, me, and Palerider....got the visit.
I had a port not clicked in leak happen in the wee hours of the morning...big enough leak to wake me up and first thing I did was reach up and push the ports and got a little click....so I guess I didn't have it clicked in securely but it didn't leak until the wee hours of the morning...probably had it really close to being secure and then with the tossing and turning I do I bumped it just right and knocked it out.
My face was buried in the bed pillow when I woke up with the leak so probably had put some extra stress on it somehow.
This is the first time I have had this happen later in the night. Always before I would notice immediately if I didn't have the port clicked in securely just as soon as I turned the machine on. Last night everything was fine until the wee hours of the morning.

Also do make sure that the little arms are in the correct spot....one arm has to be between the 2 little raised dots/bumps...and if one arm is in the right spot the other arm will be in the right spot...and there are 2 ports...so both ports have to have those little arms in the correct spot. I will try to get better pictures tomorrow when I can have some better lighting to work with. Those little bumps are hard to see and you can barely feel them. Off just a little and it can leak a bit but the leak will be intermittent...come and go with movement of the body.

Maybe last night you just had happen what happened to me last night. I attached the ports and they clicked in like they should and all was fine for the start of the night but maybe I just happened to have one of them not quite clicked in exactly and later in the night with my tossing and turning and probably putting a little torque on the mask when I buried my face in the bed pillow...it just came loose.
I haven't had time to check my report to see when the leak happened....and it seemed like the wee hours of the morning but it might have been sooner..I don't know for sure. I just haven't had time today to download the SD card.
