Dreamstation manual cpap...need help setting it up
Hi...just bought dreamstation manual cpap for my mom...my dealer explained its features to me...but i still have few doubts..
1) what's better?? setting up the ramp on the standard mode or simply switching on the smart ramp??? Do both modes serve the same function with the only difference being operator convenience or does one have an edge over the other??
2) is there any role of EZ start if you have already setup ramp either on standard or the smart mode??? Coz theoretically the role of EZ start sounds very much similar to ramp...
3)what is the difference between C-flex & C- flex +??

Whoever at Respironics came up with EZStart....should be horsewhipped.

"EZSTART", possibly the worst, most stupid feature *EVER*.

EZStart raises the pressure over days to reach the prescribed pressure. Do not use it

Ramp starts at a lower pressure and goes up to the whatever setting over a period of MINUTES
EZStart starts at a lower pressure and goes up to the whatever setting over a period of DAYS...it might take 30 days to get up to the minimum settings and all that time you are getting sub optimal pressures ALL NIGHT LONG...instead of maybe during ramp.
Smart Ramp when in fixed mode is probably the best choice for fixed mode.
In Auto Mode probably doesn't matter since the machine will suspend ramp if event warning signs happen.
Pretend EZStart isn't even an option.
I would suggest Smart Ramp if ramp needs to be used.

Re: Dreamstation manual cpap...need help setting it up
Also...do you have to setup the ramp pressure & the ramp time even when you choose smart ramp???
Re: Dreamstation manual cpap...need help setting it up
CFlex +
It's a little smoother transition than plain CFlex. CFlex is the older of the 2 choices. The newer choice is smoother and IMHO better.
And yes....if you want to use Smart Ramp you still have to set the starting ramp minimum pressure and how long you want it to last (just in case you don't fall asleep) and don't forget that you have to push the ramp button to engage ramp.
If you don't push the button to start ramp it doesn't matter if ramp is turned on or not....it won't do anything unless you also push the ramp button.

What is a Dreamstation "manual" cpap? and, can you take it back and get a Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset For Her ?
Get OSCAR

Yes...this is correct.sachinaps24 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2019 2:02 pmSo.....be it standard or smart ramp...you have to push the ramp button in order to engage it????
At least with Respironics machines....other machine brands might go about it differently.
Some people find they don't need or even like the lower pressures of ramp so they can choose not to engage it if they don't want to use it.
Also the Flex exhale relief won't do much or be very noticeable if the ramp starts at 4....the pressure needs to be at least 6 cm for Flex exhale relief to engage.
