That doesn't mean you should listen to utter claptrap.

Ignorant babbling like that sends you on wild goose chases.

I know you're desperate.

Trust me, I've been there. Most of us here, have.

You are tired because you're not sleeping well. All of your life you've spent with your face unencumbered. Now you're strapping on some foreign device to your face and it's interfering with your sleep.

You've got to relearn to sleep and to become accustomed to the mask. It can take a while before you are waking fully rested.

It's hard. For most, there isn't a magic bullet. But being desperate doesn't mean you should listen to the first guy to come along that makes up a bunch of crap.

at least you guys are making me laugh....

I know it takes time to get better, but each week I feel worse than the previous week,

And the Doctor, the respiratory therapist and the nurse all say I should not be feeling worse..... That's why I'm desperate..

Unfortunately , desperate people can be led to do I'll advised things by ignorant or unscrupulous people... Mind you I'm not suggesting that dreaming1 is unscrupulous.

Masks in sleep lab settings that leak can cause huge spikes in arousal index, sometimes far exceeding the arousals associated with AHI, even though they only show up as insignificant leaks. Way back in the day RDI was what decided if a patient received a CPAP. Hypops with greater than a 30% drop from baseline for 10 seconds, coupled with desaturation of 3% or AN arousal were to be scored as a hypopnea. Now that's not the case. Arousals don't count anymore. Medicare changed that. But it was and is routine to see patients placed on pap therapy and see their AHI significantly reduced during the titration, but their arousal index still be high. More times than not this was attributed to mouth venting. Patients mouth would pop open every thirty seconds and you would see the arousal in the EEG. It would far exceed the arousal index in the same mild patient who was waking up 15-20 times an hour with apnea related arousals. All because they couldn't keep their mouth closed. Humidity would be turned on, then chinstraps would be used, then full face masks after that to solve that issue. Another segment of patients (not as big as mouth breathers, but still noticeable) had mask leak related arousals where the mask would squeal, hiss, gurgle from humidity or fart in the case of full face masks at higher pressures and wake them up for 3-5 seconds. The patient wouldn't remember them happening. The technician would see them though and sometimes change the mask, sometimes not, depending on how lazy they were. Did you have an inlab titration study? If not, how can you know what mask you should be on? If not, then it's guesswork and you can't know for sure what the EEG looks like with your chosen mask on and functioning. The others can say what they want, but they weren't inlab with you witnessing the study (neither was I) and they are assuming what your problems are no better than me. Your DME should have a 30 day mask guarantee and should swap out your mask at no charge if they are reputable, as the manufacturer replaces their stock for free. Get another mask and post more sleepy head data with it. Cross compare several things to see if anything shows up differently.

Dreaming1:
I did have in lab titration first mask was a nasal but it was to small and After a few hours I couldn't take it anymore so they gave me a mouth mask that had an i indentation for the nose...I didn't like that either it leaked somewhat and pushed up my nose uncomfortably and was noisy but that's all they had...

I told them at the Dme that the mask i used at the study i didn't like.. They did not have much of a selection.. There reputation is not good locally but this is the only company my insurance uses, if I had better insurance the Doctors office does the mask fitting themselves....

I'm thinking about buying this mask. https://www.thecpapshop.com/respironics ... ask-bundle

All you've done is spew completely unsubstantiated guesswork.

Have you looked at the breathing data in detail? NO. All you are doing is guessing, and misleading a desperate person.

2 questions since Im always trying to learn here

1. Your profile says pressure 8/15 but your SH graph shows fixed 10. Which is right?

2. The F20 Air Touch is a good mask and very popular among FF mask users. If it doesn’t bother you, and your leak rate is good, I don’t get why you’re wanting to switch? I use a fixed 10 pressure myself and wore the F20 for a year and not once did it “blow off my face”. I would get several nights where it leaked more than I wanted and that was a sign that it was time for a new pillow.

We all have that occasional rotten night of sleep. Your AHI looks great. Did you do anything different last night that might be the cause of feeling like crap? Sleeping aid, coming down with a cold, pain, etc?

My pressure should read 10.

As for the mask..I'm not liking my mouth covered that much

Last night wasn't the occasional bad night.. Sleep wise it was the best and longest I've had in the 3 weeks I've been on cpap. ( length and AHI).And I woke feeling the worst yet....

It's that since I've been on cpap, every day I feel worse and worse...though I'm sleeping longer and breathing better.

The doctors say I should not be feeling worse .but.just keep at it and see what happens...

Sometimes we think things are worse because they are different - when in fact they are not worse, but ........different.

Stick with it.

A few nights ago I had wild dreams. It was not pleasant....but it means I was asleep! I'll take it.

While your “leak” isn’t super high in relation to a Respironics machine,
The OP is using am AirTouch F20. ResMed publishes a venting flow-rate of 37L/min at 10 CM of water pressure.

His graph shows a "leak-rate", fairly consistent at about (40-42)L/min. with one spike at 55L/min. The means his leak is approximately 3-5 L/min spiking once at 15 L/min.

Many here would kill for those numbers.
Raising hand.  my leak is regularly 25 L/min and will go up on bad nights.

I use a nasal mask because I just couldn't get used to the full face masks. I have tried several kinds that users here have been so awesome to send to me. (since my dme has been super jerks)

The N-20 nasal mask is my favorite so far. The new bleep sounds great (no leaks for many) but I don't know if my DME will carry it. I also don't know if I can get used to the pillow style. I have a brevida so I keep trying. :D

Good luck. For some of us getting used to the alien on our face is the hardest part of this journey.

I don't understand this is a separate topic, I asked if i had the right info and had set up the screen shot right,
it wasn't my intention to have my other topic migrate over..

So basically I should ask every question no matter the topic on the same thread???
Wouldn't that create one massive thread.. Pages and pages long...
Now I do suffer from terrible brain fog so if I'm wrong I apologize..
