Feeling like central is worse after cold

Post by Gsusman » Thu Mar 14, 2019 1:29 am

I need advice concerning having anxiety before I can fall asleep, I have OSA & CSA. Recently got a very bad cold...Had to use nasal spray and/or sudafed to breath and be able to fall asleep. Many nights sleep was very short. My sig line has my cpap brand listed as its 10 years old and not in the list here..I guess is not supported by the software I see used here either. Im feeling panicky because before I can even fall asleep it feels like I just stop breathing as though the central is kicking in before I can even fall asleep. TThe cold is finally gone but I cant shake the anxiety as though Im suffocating. Ive even turned the ramp off and gone straight to the full setting..still doesn't help.. Ramp is 9 for 20 minutes to top at 14. Sorry Im a noob..lol..dont have the lingo but sure need a friend or 30.

Welcome to the forum.

There is software available for the M Series Auto CPAP but it's not SleepyHead. You would have to use Encore Pro along with the smart card that stores data and a very special card reader to plug into your computer.
Then the data available on the M series machines is very limited compared to today's machines.
And the M series machines don't flag centrals separately......so I am not sure that it would be worth the expense to get a smart card (if you don't have one) and the card reader https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Respir ... Reader-USB
and install Encore Pro which is a bitch to install and use and is Windows only.

There is some limited data available on the machine's LCD screen....do you see it?

Sudafed can have strange effects on some people even apart from keeping them awake (it always does that to a degree), so I wouldn't be too concerned unless the effects continue after you stop using it.

I havent used it for about 5 days but what has happened is Ive become so tired from lack of sleep Ive lost my appetite..Last night I decided I wasnt sleeping in the chair and took half a melatonin and went to bed..I slept pretty good but feel so groggy today and am forcing myself to eat..I turned my pressure up to 16 from 14 and havent been able to use the ramp for 10 days..Not to much panic last night..Going back to another post you had asked about the screen and numbers?..which ones do you need?
