My first computer was a Data General Nova:
Then a Digital PDP-11:
Then an IBM System 370:
360 Assembler, Fortran, COBOL
Battery Backup: EcoFlow Delta 2

The 370 was so much more impressive looking compared to the Amdahl.. but that Amdahl console was beautiful.. inlaid keyboard, huge monitor on a pedestal built into the desk... etc.

I remember a local news station came in to do a story on computers, they wanted some footage of our computers, then an IBM 4361, HP3000 and Vax 11/780.
When I watched the story instead of filming any of the computers they panned across the Air Conditioning unit. Which they thought was the computer because it was the biggest and had the most flashing lights.

I did too

my first computer.
WOW!!!!
I hate to show you what I used in my high school computer class...
You had computers in high school ?
We had trs-80's my senior year.
Well, we didn't have computers in our high school in San Mateo; but USF in SF let us use theirs... It's amazing how simple things were back then. I believe the cell phone I'm writing on right now is more powerful than those computers used to be!!!
Btw, I'm glad you like the Avatar!!! Have you picked your name yet??!
I am leaning toward Dinosnoreless. But I am still taking suggestions.

Who had computers in high school? We were lucky to have electric typewriters. My typing class was taught on a manual typewriter. I had already retired from the military before personal computers were available commercially. I bought what was then one of the hottest machines on the market. An Apple 2E with a dual disk drive. The same machine the secretaries were using at work for word processors. The programs I was running at that time were on an IBM 360.
Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional.

This off topic thread has wandered rather off off topic.
Hey, that's what I was going to say!!! - Maybe I should put two OT's on it...???
Btw, you clearly won the Cynmatthes Name-Game!!! - Jay, tell him what he won!!!
He hasn't won yet

everyone should go to my ot thread and give more suggestions.

I am a longtime
Trekkie so bonus points to the person who can incorporate a start trek reference with something sleep related.
(Btw full disclosure its like an episode of who's line... the points don't matter ).

How can one enjoy broccoli? You might enjoy big gobs of salad dressing or dip, but how in the heck does one enjoy broccoli? Blechhh.

Broccoli is delicious, fine as a crunchy thing either by itself or on a salad with cauliflower (a broccoli cousin), or lightly steamed with any number of things, a bit of lemon and garlic butter on it is awesome!
How can you NOT like broccoli? (besides, it's very good for you).
