Other Sleep Issues

Post by Sleep2Dream » Fri Mar 08, 2019 7:21 am

I took people's advice (thank you all!) and changed my Dreamstation settings to 10 - 20. Since then, my AHI has been staying below 2, the lowest I've ever seen it. But I am waking up sleepy, so what I'm wondering is this: What can I study on my Sleepyhead data that might help me suss out what else is interfering with my sleep besides apneas and hypopneas? Thanks in advance to all you Sleepyhead experts! (I confess I get bewildered and overwhelmed by all those charts...)

How many hours of sleep are you getting? Sleep...not just machine use...does it take you long to fall asleep?
Are you waking often during those hours of sleep? If so, approx how many times?
Do you take any medications of any kind? If so, what.

Can you share your detailed report with us...maybe we can spot something that needs improvement.
Start with the basics and work from there.

hey, after 3 1/2 years, i'm still bewildered by those charts too!

so i have learned how to organize the charts properly, take a screen shot and then post it here for all to see. then those experts can advise me of what steps i can take to improve things.

i don't claim to understand their voodoo. i just go by what they tell me.

good luck!

oh, btw? just post those charts right here in this thread.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Thanks, Zonker. I'm attaching two screenshots, one from last night (AHI 1.7), and a second from a few nights ago (AHI 0.5). I hope I'm doing it right!

i will leave it to others to talk about chart format. but the first thing i notice is that your pressure will spike up from 10 to between 11 and 12 quit a bit. if you can stand the pressure being raised just a bit more, you might want to make your minimum of at least 11. that way, the machine can respond faster to your events and maybe actually improve your sleep.

let's see what the experts have to say.

Zonker those spikes are the Philips getting bored with nothing going on and seeing if it can fix anything with more pressure and finds it can’t. This is a good thing no need to increase the minimum pressure it’s good where it is generally

It seems to me that an AHI ranging from under 1 to a max of 3 shouldn't explain waking up tired. I mean, that doesn't even officially count as "mild" sleep apnea. What I want to figure out is if there's something else going on. Or maybe I'm wrong about the existence of any apneas at all?

Doctors say "oh, 5 is fine" but that's BS, 5 is like getting poked with a sharp stick every 12 minutes, on average, all night long.

3 isn't good, that's an interruption every 20 minutes. you're not sleeping so much as napping all night.

I feel worse if my AHI is over 2 (well, 1.5). So do many other people.

Thanks, Palerider. I'll go through that stuff again. I get overwhelmed too easily by all this stuff--possibly I'm still in denial. :-(

If you've got any questions, *please* ask, the fact that I didn't want to retype that again doesn't mean I don't want to help you understand.
