Re: F30 mask users - where are your leaks?
Hi Djams,
Thanks for the cool link. From what I was reading they say don't worry about the leaks if they are not causing events. These seem to be causing events. My ahi has gone from the 2's with the dreamwear (mostly SWJ) to 6-7's with f-30 which I don't think are SWJ because the mask is not waking me up like the dreamwear did. I will be bummed because I really like this mask a lot better.

Those leaks are nothing to worry about. You want to keep working on it, but don't let this bother you.
Here's a link where I got schooled on both leaks and mask liners. By many of the best on this forum. Relax.

Re: F30 mask users - where are your leaks?
Hi,
I just received my F30 and had my first night last night. Lots of leeks in the left cheek right where my lips meet the edge of the silicone cushion. When I first sized it and tried it on while sitting, there were zero leaks and it was very comfortable (I prefer this to the Dreamwear version). However, as soon as I started sleeping and my jaw muscles relaxed, the mask starting "burping" out the left edge, waking me right back up. I tried tightening the straps and went so tight that it forced my lower jaw back, but still had the same issue all night. Strangely, sleeping on my left side helped as it kept the mask pushed against the side of my face, and there was no leaking out of the right (I must have a slightly asymmetric jaw but I don't see it).
I have similar issues with ALL full face masks including the Dreamwear so nothing unique here, but was hoping this would be "the one". Sadly, not.
Back to my airfit p10, which I love (but I do sometimes open my mouth at night, so trying to find a good full face mask so I don't have to use a chin strap).
I would be interested in any padding or other solution if something could be done that would make my F30 work.

Re: F30 mask users - where are your leaks?
F30 leaks out the top almost always now, blowing air into my eyes. This past week it also started leaking from the lower sides of my cheeks. When it does this, it sounds like a soft airhorn. Wakes me up, can fall asleep with the racket.
Have found that the swivel hose connection, while great when you are moving around, pulls the mask slightly away from the face and changes the fit. Which doesn't help.

Re: F30 mask users - where are your leaks?
I just returned one as I could not stop the leaks and it was very uncomfortable compared to my N20 nasal mask. Never had a problem with the N20 until a minor stroke, now my mouth falls open when sleeping. Going to try a chin strap.

Re: F30 mask users - where are your leaks?
If I get leaks they tend to be near the top toward my eyes. Recently I have been using a CPAP moisturizing cream on my skin and that seems to prevent the leaks.
Re: F30 mask users - where are your leaks?
i have also been looking for the holy grail of masks, and was hoping this was it.
after using it for 1/2 a night it is alas not for me.
initially fitted well and was very comfortable, but approx 2-3 hours into the night it started leaking under my nose and i could not stop it regardless of the adjustment.
it seems when sitting up, it creates a very good seal on my nose, but when laying down on back the seal is not as good. when laying on either side, again the seal is okay but as soon as i fidgeted, even slightly (i use a CPAP pillow so very little pressure) it created a blast of air up over the nose.
i tried in my office when sat up and managed to get a good seal when 100% still at 15cmh20, but that required a very tight headband - too tight for my comfort, but as soon as the hose or mask was moved slightly, it leaked under the nose.
i am borderline small/medium so went for the small as i have a narrow nose with small nostrils.
i was hoping that this would have been as good as the Resmed Mirage Liberty i started off with 2 years back, which was brilliant around the mouth, but blew out the nostrils when at a higher pressure. i have then tried the F20 which leaked, Phillips Dreamwear Full mask which also leaked for me at the nose. The one i keep going back to is the F20 Airtouch memory foam which works very well in conjunction with the Phillips CPAP nose strips, but unfortunately need replacing every 3-4 weeks when the memory foam ages and loses it springinesss and doesn't seal as well.
back to the drawing board.

Can feel air flowing toward my eyeballs. Any tightening makes the mask uncomfortable. The angle of the straps on the head gear that go above the ear seem placed/angled awfully.

Re: F30 mask users - where are your leaks?
My leaks are from the sides -- the cheeks. They are under the 24 l/m maximum so are not classified as large leaks. They are noisy though. And I think happen mostly when I am sleeping on my back (and my jaw drops). I have experienced a few leaks blowing air towards the eyes but that's not a regular problem.
I am also in contact with Karen about a liner for the F30.

Re: F30 mask users - where are your leaks?
Once I switched from the S cushion to the M cushion (better for my nostrils), I got a lot more jaw leaks. I made a crude liner for now and it helps enough so that I can sleep. Leaks always wake me. I can breathe much easier with the M cushion... wouldn't it be great if I could use the S jaw part with the M nose part? I still might cut into my S cushion to see if I can make the nose part more like the M one. I'm looking forward to the PAC liner becoming available.
I still have a little chapping/irritation under my nose, but it's much better with the larger cushion. It's funny, I have a pretty small face and nose, but I could not breathe well with the S cushion.

Re: F30 mask users - where are your leaks?
For the past week, I have taped up the hose to the frame so it no longer swivels. It has helped. It doesn't clip off anymore, which is a little annoying if I have to get up or blow/scratch my nose, but that is worth it. I have noticed that the swiveling hose, while a great idea, tends to pull the top of the mask away from the top of my nose, exacerbating the leaks. I have taped it to the side or pointing up. Up is the best position to weigh down the top of the mask to help with leaks, but sometimes seems to put a little too much pressure on the bridge of my nose for comfortable sleep. The side is a good compromise. Still a little leaky but better.

Re: F30 mask users - where are your leaks?
I was just thinking, last night, that they should update the mask so that the swivel doesn't change the angle of the mask. I will try taping up my hose.
I do have a piece of fleece as a liner and it helps with the leaks.

Re: F30 mask users - where are your leaks?
My leaks are at the bottom of the mask when my jaw drops. Otherwise no leaks.Been on Cpap for 8 years. Have tried alot of masks over the years. Could say I'm a veteran on CPAP
. The F30 is probably the best mask I have ever tried on that had almost no leaks from the start. Although the silicon padding feels abit hard on the side wall where it bends in. I get a painfull pinch on my righ top side. Sore tooth on my top right. I'm wondering if a mask liner won't perhaps make it feel more comfortable and less painful? It might also get more soft over time? If they made a size Large with slightly wider and bigger mouth section I will buy 10.

Re: F30 mask users - where are your leaks?
I would love a bigger nose part with a smaller jaw part.
Oddly, after several years, I just started to develop a jaw drop even with my mouth taped-that made for loud, big leaks on my Simplus. With the F30, knock on wood, I don't wear a chin strap and haven't had the jaw drop! Anatomically, I could definitely drop my jaw, so I don't understand.... but it's nice not having to wear the strap.
I'm having a lot of redness, tenderness, and chapping on my nose. I can't get a piece of fleece to cover that area without blocking breathing. I'm having to alternate use with my old Simplus to rest my skin.

Re: F30 mask users - where are your leaks?
When I used the Simplus mask, I had to place a small piece of moleskin on my nose to keep it from getting sore. I did that for around a year until I tried the Amara View for the first time. I have since moved on to the F20 which I can use without using the moleskin.
