My Remstar Auto C-flex on it's way

Post by snamvar » Thu Mar 03, 2005 9:27 pm

I placed an order with cpap.com for a Remstar Auto with C-flex and Software today. I need to take control of my treatments with help from this forum.
Thanks.

Have the same machine, little bit of a learning curve on the software, but lots of folks with experience here...

What mask did you get?

That's great. Rested Gal has already provided so much info with an even sample graph. I look forward to seeing my result.

How about a picture of YOU with an OWL on your face?

Liam, who suspects that image was funnier to him than to others.

I got my Remstart auto C-flex yesterday, coooool. I also got the software and reader for it. I already had the heated humidifier. So I used it for the first time last night. I only got 4.5 hours of sleep , but I'll sleep much better tonight My fixed pressure was 8, so I set the range 6-20 on the auto. I downloaded the data from the smart card this morning and the AHI was 5.5. I think that is ok to start it with (I had some leaks).
I really think that the smart card/USB readert/software is cool. I am a geek, so it was interesting to play around with, but I think what counts at the end of the day(or night for that matter) is how you feel in the morning.
I'll keep you posted.

It is interesting that your end quote is "don't do mornings" because one of the things I am finding, after about 2 weeks on auto cpap with a Remstar auto with c-flex, is that I no longer am able to sleep in mornings -- even if I want to! I'm down for the count by 11:00 - 12:00 pm, and can't sleep much past 7:00- 8:00 am, even on weekends.

This for a person who used to doze, on and off, all day on the couch on weekends !

I'd be interested to see if you have this experience too. Everyone is different!
Best wishes and good dreams...

Hi hopeful,
I am glad you are doing so well with CPAP. Besides OSA, I have another sleep disorder called Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome (DSPS). This is a condition where your body clock is out of sync with the rest of the world. You want to sleep later (2 am) and wake up later (11 am). Light therapy and Melatonin are used to "normalize" your body clock, but this is a genetic problem and you prety much have it all your life. I think that untreated OSA makes it much worst as you might imagine. So, I don't do mornings boss Sorry, just practicing

Hi Snamvar,

I am glad to finally find someone else that has DSPS! I also have RSL (restless leg syndrome). Having apnea,DSPS and RLS DOES NOT make for good sleep. I, like you "do no do mornings". Have you tried the method where you go to sleep 3 hours later each time until you go completely around the clock? You are supposed to end up on a schedule of bed at 10, up at 6. I started trying it this week, lasted 3 days and gave up. It was very hard for me to adjust. I plan on trying it again, hopefully I can make it work.

Good luck sleeping,
Gilda

Hi Gilda,
What you refer to is chronotherapy. I have not done it. I think that it won't be easy. There is a yahoo group about DSPS:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/delayedsleepers/
Have you tried advancing on a more gradual basis?
Best wishes.

Hi Snamvar

My heart goes out to you and Mommaw, sounds very hard... I think plain old vanilla Sleep Apnea is hard enough to deal with! I hope both you are able to find some help with it!
