Problem with Respironics M-Series

Post by nightingale » Tue Nov 21, 2006 11:27 pm

I have a Respironics M-Series machine that has leaked and ruined the finish on a solid cherry bedside table. My supplier has had other complaints, called Respironics and reportedly was advised they are having a problem and are "working on it". My supplier swapped out my machine, and after using it last night, it too has "puddled" underneath the machine. I fill the water container to just below the fill line, so it is not over-filled. My supplier indicated they have received five complaints. Has anyone here had the problem? I called Respironics Monday and was given the VoiceMail of the QA person, left a message but have not had a response. This is frustrating to say the least!

I had the puddle happen twice. I'm careful to make sure the seal is good now and to not over fill the humidifier container

Many users on this forum have reported that problem. It's been discussed here at great length and many others have reported damaged furniture. As a temporary remedy, some have put their M's in small baking pans so as to keep the water from leaking on their furniture.

As you reported......Respironics is "working on it".

Best wishes,

Den

Join the club. I've had it happen three times and also ruined an end table. Make sure that the "rubber band" is perfectly straight when you close the two halves of the humidifier tank. That might solve the problem.

I had read on this board about leaking humidifiers before I got my equipment so I used a baking sheet to protect my walnut nightstand, which was a good thing because my first humidifier leaked every night. There were two or three dime-sized puddles underneath in the morning. My DME exchanged the leaking humidifier for a new one that leaked twice as much but only half as often -- and there were some mysterious dry nights. Four weeks ago, the DME gave me a whole new machine, and there have been no more leaks. I don't think I did anything wrong with the first two because I haven't done anything different with the third one.

The only problem I've had is the whole machione stopped working. Wouldn't power on at all. Got it new from the DME and after about 2 weeks it stopped working one night. Unplugged it and plugged it back in about a half hour later. Started working again. Went on travel. Stopped working again the first night. Unplugged and plugged in, worked for about 10 minutes and completely died. The DME gave me a another machine when I got back home (unfortunately a M series Plus, not the Pro I had originally).
