Roomate says I snore to loud

Post by skinnysnorer » Mon Jan 14, 2019 12:59 pm

I moved into a house in August and my roommate is telling me that my snoring is getting louder and he can't believe that I make that much noise because I'm so skinny. 6 foot and 165 pounds. He recorded me on his phone and my snoring sounds really loud. Ive been working 2 jobs so I'm really tired and zonk out so I'm not sure if that is the reason. He is in medical school and says I should get a sleep test but I found out one costs too much and I don't have insurance. He is from Brazil and he told me that they sell machines there that stop snoring to anyone so I should go and buy one on Craiglist but I think they are banned there.
I read here that I should buy the Resmed airsense 10 auto cpap but my roommate says to get the cheapest one I can find but I don't know what to do. I have $500 saved for a new mountain bike this spring which I don't really need it since mine is a good one but still want one so should I just buy a Resmed Elite? How do I now it will stop my snoring or should I just buy the best one?

If you plan to self treat, an automatic is the best way to go.
The elite will be much harder to use for that.

Exactly which ResMed Elite model are you talking about?
S8...S9...AirSense 10???

You can self treat with the Elite (depends on which model) but it's easier and faster to do it with the auto/apap model plus if you happen to only need higher pressures for part of the night the auto will do that for you.
With the Elite you would have to maybe use higher all night and sometimes that's not so comfortable.

Example....I do have OSA and it's worse in REM sleep stage...which amounts to about 20% of a typical night.
In non REM sleep I can get by with around 8 or 9 cm pressure...but in REM I have been known to need to use 15 to 18 cm pressure.
If I were to use the Elite I would have to use 15 to 18 ALL night long instead of that 20% of the night when I am in REM. It's doable but not much fun...8 or 9 cm is a WHOLE lot easier to deal with than 15 cm all night long.
Same scenario could happen if you need more pressure on your back.

Look on here or Craig's list for a used Resmed autoset 10 for the best full featured machine if it doesn't work you can always sell on without losing much.

he sells machines quite often, so it may not be too late. send him a private message and see what he might have.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

That won't help the actual problem.
