New machine?
New machine?
How often should CPAP machines be replaced? I think mine is from 2011. It still runs. I assume the pressure is still accurate. I have no complaints. But am thinking the thing is old and might give up the ghost one night leaving me high and dry. I can’t sleep well without. Thanks

Re: New machine?
Most insurance and Medicare will replace machines at around 5 years....Yours is 8...you're pushing your luck. Do you have insurance? Get a new machine and keep the old one for emergency back up.

Re: New machine?
Yes, do keep the old one on hand "just in case."
Re: New machine?
I would start thinking about a new machine just so you're prepared if something happens. I just recently bought a new machine to replace my 7 or 8 year old Intellipap. It has over 21000 hours on it so I figured it could fail any day. I have a old M series CPAP for a backup but I never liked that machine but I use it when I travel and stuff. Do keep the old machine because stuff happens and having a backup machine is important to me.

My Respironics Remstar Auto 550 is still cranking after nearly 10 years. It has just shy of 20,000 hours on it. I have the previous one as a backup still but haven't used it in the last 10 years (probably should test backup machine periodically).

I got a new machine. It is a Dreamstation with a heated tube. Pretty cool machine. I like the heated tube. I thought it was a gimmick until I used it. It really does help keep the air humidified.

Re: New machine?
BTW, what is your old machine?
Re: New machine?
It's good that you got the same brand that you had before. That's what worked for you, and minor differences between brands might cause issues for some.

Yes, like better results.

Re: New machine?
I went a bit of a different direction. My machine is from 2012, and to overcome the concern of it unexpectedly packing it in, I bought a backup machine.
I currently use a System One, and I found another System One machine sitting on a shelf at a thrift store. It appeared that they had no idea what it is, since they had it labeled as a "personal humidifier" with a $35.00 price tag on it. I asked them if I could plug it in. They said OK, so I set it up and it worked. It only had 1100 hours on it. So, now I have a backup machine and one less worry.
