Using Sleepyhead software with Resmed Airsense machine

Post by musicfreak » Mon Dec 17, 2018 12:42 pm

Hi guys,

I'm doing a trial right now and want to use Sleepyhead software. I've been reading about how the software downloads a text file to the SD card on some machines.

Is it true the Resmed Airsense Just for Her Autoset 10 machine isn't affected? I think I read I shouldn't have any problems using the SD card and all data will still be on it for my Sleep tech to see on MyAir?

Should I slide the write protect tab on the SD card just in case? I'm nervous I'm going to lose my data!

Thanks.

There's nothing you can do that will affect your data, short of ginger into clinical mode and picking "erase data".

If there was any chance of losing the compliance data with sleepyhead, don't you think there would be warnings all over the place?

It is not necessary, but if you are nervous about it, slide the write protect tab. Also, slide the tab back and return the card to your machine as soon as SleepyHead is done importing. Not after you start looking at your data. You might forget like I do.

No, if you are worried about losing data, don't touch the write-protect tab.

You're going to forget to turn off the write protection and stick the SD Card back in your device and then you will lose a nights detailed data. Write protecting the SD Card was important with the ResMed S9s, but no longer an issue with the A.S. 10s.

Downloading from the SD card doesn't remove anything from the card itself...all it does is make a copy of the file contents and transfer that copy into the Sleepyhead program.
Nothing gets removed from anywhere.

The write protect thing was mainly for ResMed S9 machines because of that little text file that Windows 8.xxx and higher (and some Macs) would put on the SD card. It never hurt the data itself though...but the S9 didn't like that little file being on the SD card so it would reject the card when you put it in the S9. That little text file ...no one cares about it but the S9.
SleepyHead doesn't care...ResScan doesn't care....the AirSense/AirCurve machines don't care either.

The hardest part of it all...remembering to take the SD card out of the computer and putting it back in the cpap machine.
When you sleep with the SD card in your computer you don't get the detailed graphs...and even that isn't the end of the world.
Summary data is stored in the machine's internal memory and will be written to the SD card the next time you put the card back in the cpap machine. I was guilty of that just 2 nights ago myself. So I am missing some graphs but the main important stuff is still available...hours of use, AHI and pressure and leak numbers. No pretty graphs but it's not the end of the world if we don't have the pretty graphs for one night.

Your DME or doctor won't even know you downloaded anything unless you tell them.

Our ResMed AIrsense 10 Autoset For Her machines, well at least mine does, displays a warning on the screen when the card is write protected. Yes, we don't need to worry about SleepyHead, or the little files some operating systems write to cards.

Especially at a critical time such as a trial, like the OP is at, and also

if I was nervous and maybe also a computer newbie why not lock the card when using the computer? At least until I became comfortable with what I was doing. There are dumb little things that probably won't but could happen.

because it does not matter with the air10 machines. It just adds another layer of unnecessary complexity.
