I think you should push for the sleep study. Something very extreme is happening here and it is more than what the machine is able to measure and record. You should not be going through anything this severe, unless cpaps inherently give you anxiety attacks.

Most hoses are 19mm in diameter with 22mm ends. Certain manufacturers are coming out with newer machines that feature so-called "slim" tubes that are 15mm

The hose is standard size. I'll look into a bigger one.

The machine and mask don't give me anxiety by themselves. I send people pictures of me in my mask and they say "it looks uncomfortable" but I tell them its not because it actually isn't.

I do a style of meditation and go to bed very peaceful and at ease but then as stated before, wake up anxious and in pain multiple times. I'll definitely look into what you're saying.

I think you have ramping confused with automatic. Automatic means that your pressure will start at the minimum, and go up only if it determines that you need more pressure, and then back down when it determines that you no longer need the additional pressure. The ramp starts at a lower pressure and gradually accelerates to your set pressure over a fixed amount of time (such as 20 minutes).

I know the difference thanks. I press the start button and the pressure is 10 and the automatic settings can adjust upwards to 15. I press the ramp button to start at a lower pressure, 8, just to get to sleep.

"panic attacks" are a mental thing, what gets your heart racing with apenas is physically not being able to breathe, lack of oxygen, etc.

I'd go for 12-20 on the pressure.

One last thought, how can I know if my exhale pressure is dropping any points? And how do I change that if it isn't?

Ive read all over the internet, and talked to 2 friends, who've had the wrong mask or experienced problems with the machine who wake up gasping, and then for the first time in their lives, have a panic attack.

I've never met someone who was completely calm and at ease after they stopped breathing unexpectedly.

Some sleep was decent but woke up mulitple times and finally this morning, with chest pain and pounding heart rate.
I definitely need to try another mask. This mask was great at first but I had it torqued so tight to my neck and head I was getting headaches and was worried that, that was the reason I was waking up gasping so I loosened it to a more acceptable level and now massive leaks.

Something to the effect of clarifying that "panic attacks" not being a *physical*, unconscious thing, but a mental overreaction... then I decided it wasn't doing the OP any good, since he'd already made up his mind about what he was thinking... plus he deleted his comment that I was replying to... so, *shrugs*, I deleted mine, and put up the "never said anybody should be "calm" about not being able to breathe, since, well, i didn't.

Anyway, he prefers not to have my thoughts on the matter.

I dunno what he's reacting to, and frankly, no longer care. He'd said (or implied) that he didn't want any more 'input' from me, (if I remember right) in the post he deleted... so, after that, all I did was clarify, then withdraw from any reactions to his posts.
