AirFit P10 headgear question,......

Sounds like I may be the only person on the forum that the P10 doesn't work for. I don't like it shifting around at night...I can start with it just right, but all night long the strap that I had near my forehead when I went to bed is moving towards the back of my head and ends up making the mask too tight. Love the quietness and lightweight features...give me the P10 nosepiece with the Swift FX or Brevida adjustable headgear, and I'd be using it. Or just modify the Swift FX to have more diffuse venting like the P10, that would also be a winner for me.

Perhaps the straps were too long for you. I have one strap going over the top of my head and the other strap going around the back of my head. It seems to stay well that way.

I finally received my Cpap.com order Monday the third. The long shipping time was due to USPS improperly routing the package, and not our host it appears. Regardless, my two masks finally made it here. Of course I simply put the Brevida away for later use when my current one wears out.

Because of my work hours, and my arising at 5AM during the week, I decided to not mess with the P10 until today actually. I am taking off 12/12 through 12/18 for a 'staycation', and I will experiment plenty then in terms of actually sleeping with it.

A few minutes ago I did a dry run to simply see what my likes and dislikes might be out of the box per se. Seems my size pillow is going to be the medium, but I think the large might work as well. The small is,......too small.

I see what all of the posts meant about the head straps and how you adjust them. I see that as not being an issue any longer, although I DO have to split them nicely to fit my noggin comfortably. The hose is also very flexible as was mentioned, and I no longer see the lack of a swivel as being an issue either.

The pillows seem to fit nicely, and I didn't notice any kind of discomfort while I was wearing it. On the other hand, it doesn't feel like I am getting as much air with the P10 as I do with my Brevida, and that goes into the negative column at this point. Possibly it is just a matter of actually sleeping in it, and not just breathing through it.

My major gripe with the mask is something really simple. My Brevida has a quick connect fitting that is left in the mask end of my slimline hose. It is very easy to simply snap it loose when going to the restroom at night, and reconnect instantly. With this one you have to wiggle the rubber end fitting each time, or remove the mask when getting up. Seems like it would wear out the rubber hose end quicker having to manipulate it several times each night. Not the end of the world, but it would have been nice to spend that extra nickel and include a plastic quick connect.

It looks like it might be a bit of a pain to take off the strap from the frame, but I don't intend on doing that until the need arises. Once again the Brevida is way ahead IMO with two simple clips to snap off.

BTW,....the plastic frame on the sides I was a little concerned about doesn't seem like it will be an issue,....just like you folks said.

My overall impression is I will probably like this mask, and will use it for the purpose I bought it for, which is side sleeping when my back is really torqued. I will check back in after I actually sleep a full night or two with further praise,....or gripes as the situation may warrant.

First time taking the stretchy headgear off the frame took me a bit of time until I did it once.
After that...maybe 5 seconds.
Only time I take it off is when I am changing to new headgear....or if I want to run the headgear through the washer and dryer to shrink it.
which is extremely rare...first time shrinking is done in the sink with hot water and every thing attached and that's maybe once every 2 or 3 months.

I haven't missed a quick connect/disconnect. Never thought about it. If I get up in the middle of the night I just take the whole thing off.
I can put it back on in half a second with one finger.

I don't do a lot of disconnects anyway...we all know that I certainly don't wash anything daily.

Do not keep unsnapping the mask any more than necessary. That will stretch the hose connector do it disconnects easily. After daily disconnecting the mask from thje hose, I needed to replace my Climateline hose so the mask would not disconnect while I was asleep.

I remove the mask when making night trips. I disconnect the mask from the hose only when I am swapping headgear & frames. I alternate between 2 frame.headgear sets and then clan & dry the other one ready for the next swap. I just transfer the pillow unless I need to replace that too.

As far as the quick connect,....I guess it's just what I'm used to, and I really like it. I hate taking off a mask in the middle of the night. I am a light sleeper, and the longer I have to fiddle with stuff, the more I awaken, and the longer it takes me to get back to sleep.

Also I disconnect my mask in the AM, wipe off the cushion, and put it away in a drawer, and wrap my slimline hose around the machine on my nightstand. I don't leave my mask piled up on my nightstand with the hose still attached. (No offense intended BTW)

Since I don't plan on this replacing my regular setup, it shouldn't be a big deal using it every 2 or 3 months for a few nights or so.

If it really grows on me, I guess I will have to replace my hoses more often, or come up with a quick connect solution for the P10.

I've found that, at least for me, a new P10 takes a few days for the headgear to break in. It's a bit tight for the first few days, but settles in and is comfortable for the long run. I do wish the pillows still lasted as long as the first ones did--it seems like now I replace them about every month to month and a half. For the first couple years they held up much longer.

That said, it's still by far my favorite nasal pillow mask, and I think I've tried every one that's come on the market since the original Mirage Swift.

With my p10, the swivel comes apart fairly easily, and then snaps back together. I don't know if that's still the way the swivel works, or even if it was supposed to do that originally, like a quick disconnect.

My P10s (all bought since Feb 2017) have no swivel. Likely a design change to reduce manufacturing costs.

I believe you tried all three pillows and settled on the medium, but give the large another try. The large size provided much more air for me than the medium.

No swivel on mine. I just take the headgear off for bathroom trips. I hang it on the top of my lamp until I return. With no light it is easy for me to put it back on.

There's a swivel between the big hose and the short hose... otherwise there wouldn't be a way for kinks to come out of the short hose.
