Sources of Used/Discounted Machines

Post by droyal » Tue Nov 07, 2006 12:25 pm

Hello

Any help would be appreciated:

1. Any recommendations for sites or places offering used machines?

2. Does anyone have experience with http://www.cpaps4sale.qwhs.com ? Very low prices, but their site gives little info on the seller, who also has an anonymous email address!

Thanks
David

I think you answered your own question. Then I'd always be leary of a website that cannot pay its domain registration.

You need to shop around a bit because prices shown are not that great for used equipment.

50% of online new is the going rate in good condition.

I see them occasionally on my local Craig's List. Of course, all the usual caveats apply.

Check with your local DME company. I know we frequently keep used machines around for just such a need. Or whenever the "next great thing" comes out we usually suddenly find ourselves with a couple dozen units that the doctors won't let us put out so those tend to get sold at cost or below just to get rid of them (IE - whenever a new model comes out).
With the M Series for example a lot of our doctors won't write an order for anything but, so we tend to have a lot of other Remstar units laying around that we are selling off. An important caveat is that due to Medicare Laws these can't be sold as new units and can't be done as a standard transaction. These have to be sold as 'junk units' and aren't subject to follow up visits and all the other stuff that normally goes along with a CPAP sale.

I've bought and sold some CPAP stuff at Yahoo Auction. My adivce, is to ask lots of question and be well informed.
What I've learned:
1) Always ask the seller if its from a smoking environment.
2) Don't buy unless they offer a refund/return deal.

Look at this. It looks like a sweet deal at first glance. However, its a pre 2004 machine without C-Flex, and it may not even use a Smart Card.

+ Aussie heated hose.

Hi,
I just purchased two CPAPs from yahoo auctions. I got an almost new Remed S8 Compact with heated humidifier for $250, 115hrs on it. The other was a Remstar Pro2 with Cflex and heated humidifier for $250, 1500 hrs on it. I bought the Remstar first as my old machine had died and I needed a quick replacement. The guy was close and could ship that day, so had it the next. Then decided to have an extra on hand and bought the Resmed. Both were in great condition.

I agree with the above rec to verify from a smoke free home. Ask about accessories and setup manuals, Both I got had full accessories and provider manuals. I also bartered for free shipping on both units. Both guys I bought from seem to sell machines regularly.

Do remember that this cpaptalk is part of cpap.com and we who like to use cpaptalk do owe some loyalty to cpap.com.

My suggestion is not to broadcast other places to buy if you want to make use of and get help from cpaptalk - let people discover these for themselves.

Respironics CPAP

Post by Lubman » Wed Nov 15, 2006 12:08 pm

I have a Respironics CPAP at home, which hasn't been used in quite a while.
I switched to BiPap and then to ASV.
What are you looking for?

I'm on travel at the moment and will be back home at the start of next week - when I can give you more details.
