Help Finding Nasal Pillows for My Young Daughter
I found this forum because there was some talk on the Nasal Aire II Petite Prong CPAP Mask (nasal pillows). I really suspect that my 6-year-old daughter's nose is just too plugged to take in enough air. I know my husband said he has a perpetually plugged nose and he couldn't use the nasal mask (and definitely not the full mask). He said it felt like he couldn't get enough air. But the local sleep clinic doesn't have anything that is pediatric nasal pillows. Her head is just so tiny. She tried on a ResMed Airfit P10 for her and the XS pillow, but the headgear was just too big (even after adjustments with some separate clips). And the pillow seemed too big as well. So I came across the Nasal Aire II Petite and thought it might work. Unfortunately, the company I was going to purchase it through requires you to already know your size you need. Does anyone know where I can find the sizing star in Canada? I found one website that ships to Canada, but it's like $40 shipping for a $5 item.
Or maybe some other ideas on what my daughter can use? Anyone have a child in a similar situation?

Re: Help Finding Nasal Pillows for My Young Daughter
I used to have one of those sizing stars but I think it's gone...I will look and see. If I can find it I would be happy to send it to you for free.
But I am going to tell you this...I have used/tried this mask and the smallest prong will most likely be too large for a 6 year old child's nostrils and they aren't very comfortable anyway. When I tried it I ended up using the smallest size possible (back then the mask came packaged with all sizes) and that was what fit my adult nostril. They also go way up into the nostril and I can't see a 6 yr old having enough room inside the nostril to accommodate the length of the prong.
Now maybe it could be shortened but I still think that the prong itself will be bigger around than her nostril.
And they aren't very soft either.
Have you looked at the Swift FX nasal pillow which has headgear that is much more adjustable than the P10?
And did you know about the Bella Loops that are available for the Swift FX?

If it looks interesting to you...don't buy it right away. I might have enough parts to build a complete mask and I would just give it to you.
Postage from Missouri to Canada would maybe be around $15.
Just let me know via PM here or Jason's forum.

Anybody know anything about a pediatric sleepweaver?
I heard something a while back--but nothing since.

Some had sent me a link with all the different masks a couple of days ago. I remembered seeing a child sized mask so I googled child cpap masks and found these.

Thanks so much! Did you ever find the sizing star? Sorry for replying so late. I checked off in my settings to email me when someone replies, but I never got any emails.Pugsy wrote: ↑Fri Nov 30, 2018 5:48 pmI used to have one of those sizing stars but I think it's gone...I will look and see. Re: Help Finding Nasal Pillows for My Young Daughter
Yes, currently, the pediatric Respironics Wisp is what my daughter is using. Unfortunately, I think she needs a "more direct" airflow, because of her nasal issues. My husband also sleeps with CPAP, and he said that he couldn't get enough air and had terrible sleep with the nasal mask. He said that pillows is what fixed the problem.Cynmatthes wrote: ↑Sat Dec 01, 2018 12:51 amSome had sent me a link with all the different masks a couple of days ago. Pale rider I want one too! They need to make some cute stuff like that for adults. It might make this whole process less intimidating.
And I want pink stuff. They need to make the dreamware ff masks pink!

Re: Help Finding Nasal Pillows for My Young Daughter
I looked through the stash box yesterday for that sizing star for the prong mask but I don't have it anymore.
I didn't think I did but though I would look to make sure while I was looking for something else for someone.

Re: Help Finding Nasal Pillows for My Young Daughter
I saw that. Unfortunately I need a bi-level. (Which is not pink) oh well. (Shrug) I just wish I could help the little one, its hard enough on an adult getting used to the masks. I would think a full face mask would be best for pluged noses so they could mouth breath. Isn't a ff mask what is recommended if you are sick ?

Re: Help Finding Nasal Pillows for My Young Daughter
Normally yes...but not so much for pediatrics. When dealing with children you won't hardly ever find a pediatric full face mask.
I don't think I have ever seen one. I read somewhere why they don't do FFM on small children often and I forget the exact reason but I seem to remember a logical reason.
I did find these
https://www.1800cpap.com/cpap-masks-for-kids.aspx
Scroll down to the bottom for ResMed's only 2 options for pediatric masks
https://www.resmed.com/us/en/consumer/p ... masks.html
I will mention this...I tried the adult version of the Wisp and I only lasted 90 minutes with it because it caused so much nasal congestion from just pressing on my nose.
Maybe try a different brand....

Re: Help Finding Nasal Pillows for My Young Daughter
I really liked the Wisp and use the same trick for it as I do for a FF mask to avoid pressure on the nose. That trick is to make the lower straps take most of the pressure but keep the upper straps on the loose side. You must fit this lying down with the air on. Tighten the lower straps to get a good fit, then the tighten the upper strap adjustment JUST ENOUGH to stop leaking, no more. All the pressure below the nose, not on the top. This worked really well because then the air cushion could fully inflate and hug the nose with as little pressure as possible.I will mention this...I tried the adult version of the Wisp and I only lasted 90 minutes with it because it caused so much nasal congestion from just pressing on my nose.
Threehappypenguins, Can your little one breathe through her nose during the day? Or is she always a sort of mouth breather? If she gets congested at night, there's a bunch of things to try: saline nasal spray before bed, blowing her nose (I have to do this to clear my sinuses out before masking up), adjusting the humidity up or down, bed positioning with her head more elevated or sleeping on one side or another.
Did she get diagnosed at a good pediatric sleep clinic? They may have mask suggestions.
