I don't know if an oral thermometer would go low enough but it would be the first thing I would try if I already had one handy.
Otherwise some sort of thermometer with a probe of some sort maybe....cooking maybe or something like this as cheap as possible.

Palerider, I think if one sticks one's hand in 86 degree water, one would perceive it as at least lukewarm, warmer than room temperature. Certainly not "cool".
palerider wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 12:27 pmMy "theory" is fact. don't confuse how you feel inside the insulating blanket of still air vs the direct thermal conductivity of something you're touching. A much more apt comparison is how it feels when you stick your hand in water.maiki wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 3:08 amYes, average human body temperature is 98.6 degrees.
However, if your theory is correct---
If the thermometer in your house says that the indoor temperature is 86 degrees, that will feel cool to you? Does a room temperature of 86 degrees feel cool to you? I think most people will perceive an 86 degree room temperature as pretty hot!
So no, perception of warmth is not only for temperatures higher than your body temperature. Not true.
But, feel free to believe what you want.

Hmm sounds like the heated tube works for you. I am suspecting something wrong with my machine now, that does not heat the tube.chartle wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 1:55 pmI have the same setup and due to a cold I just got over I maxed out the humidity and now keep it there. First night I did this I had horrible condensation in my mask which turned it into a noise maker. I then maxed out the tube temp and it got rid of it.
When I first go to bed and turn on the machine I do feel the hose get warm. Definitely warmer than everything else in the room which is at around 66 degrees.

Thanks, Pugsy. And what did you mean in the other post by "short hose cozy" and "barrel cozy"Pugsy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 9:08 pmI don't know if an oral thermometer would go low enough but it would be the first thing I would try if I already had one handy.

Short hose cozy
shortened version of the 6 ft hose cover. It would be real easy to make one...I used an old sock with a hole in the toe for years before I got a heated hose. Back when I first started therapy there weren't any integrated heated hoses. We used a lot of hose covers...store bought and DIY made.

I have my temp at at 86 degrees and humidifier at at 6. I can barely get over 8 hours and the humidifier will be empty. I have no rainout issues.
I'm not completely sure but I'm auto love it will set a relative humidity of 80% no matter what temp is set at.
