OT...Last word/fight club thread...gloves are off

Post by Pugsy » Wed Nov 14, 2018 8:55 am

Okay....best I could come up with right now.
This thread for when you guys and gals just have to keep poking each other and get the last word in.
I know you just have to do it and this way we keep it out of the helping threads.

Gloves are off here as in most OT threads. Enter and participate at your own risk.
If you don't like this one....feel free to compose your own thread for your personal attacks.

No profanity though. If the only thing you can say is so and so is a bleeping moron then that's a pretty sad statement about your comprehension of the English language.

LOL! I want to thank you Pugsy. I was just thinking that a thread like this was needed. Maybe it is because we are generally tired and grouchy . . . at least if our therapy is not working...

Well it is true that when I haven't slept so great that I do get annoyed much faster when I see the bickering going on.  and when that happens the pissing contests are more likely to get me riled up. Has nothing to do with my therapy though. I don't sleep so great sometimes (well actually most of the time) because of other reasons. My OSA therapy is actually the least of my problems.

The other side of things is that the people who might need to use this thread...they are just grouchy in general and has nothing to do with their therapy. They just want to fight....and they just have to get the last dig in.
That's okay....I actually understand that need.
Anyone ever know a woman who couldn't stand it to not get the last word in? It's not gender specific...male or female can have the need to get the last word in.

Here we can go again -) Yeee

Why are humans the only mammalian with sleep apnea.

I can tell you my dog snores pretty well... :?

The reason for human OSA is that they have started talking and singing a long time ago. This changed their trachea and the muscles attached to it to improve the vocal cords to produce all those sounds. The robust trachea changed into a soft hose that easily collapses. It does not even matter which language or vocabulary you use.

Just try to snore in an other language...

And now for the quitters! New studies are ongoing to establish how many people actually have OSA...
A lot! OK, that was to be expected...
Surprising however is the number of people with severe OSA and no daily sleepiness symptoms. What am I doing wrong ? Still tired with CPAP.

What makes you so certain humans are unique in having sleep apnea?

May I suggest: there may be other species, but we've simply not bothered to study them for whatever reasons?

Not to mention: in the jungle, loud snoring animals unless protected by something make themselves into food ;)

Some animals who can get sleep apnea include the English bulldog, Yucatan miniature pigs and Zucker rats.

Selective breeding gone berserk has resulted in animals with many defects.
Hip dysplasia and apnea are the results of irresponsible breeding.

Actually selective breeding is going on to try to help eliminate problems.
My first Pug back in 1992 was much, much worse in terms of his breathing than my recent Pugs.
Sarge snores some now but nothing compared to what my first Pug did.
So some selective breeders are trying to improve the breed.

The other night though...Sally (the old coon hound and a big dog without a short muzzle) was snoring just as much as Sarge the Pug.
It was like they were having a contest.
Snores only though...neither stopped breathing that I could tell. It's always been a standing joke here at my house that if I could fix up cpap for the dogs I could make a fortune.

Apparently other animals can have problems with their liquor too.

https://gizmodo.com/raccoons-suspected- ... 1830455989
The Milton Police Department reportedly received accounts of stumbling and disoriented raccoons at least twice in the last week, and locals worried the raccoons might have rabies. But those suspicions were wrong. The raccoons in question—including one who was identified by police as Dallas—had reportedly gotten wasted by eating some fermented crab apples.
The department noted that if you happen to stumble upon one of these drunk idiots, you should not approach them. Call the city’s non-emergency line and they’ll come to collect the bombed raccoon themselves.

You may well be right even thought there are not that many undiscovered mammalians out there any more.

As to the jungle ??? I haven't seen any around here. :(
Some how mother nature has taken big effort to keep up the breathing. Seems to be an important element. So why would mother soften up that hose ?

Maybe Selective Breeding has caused much of the Sleep Apnea in Humans. Maybe if the Cave Men had used their Clubs with less force we may not have Sleep Apnea at all. Jim

Fight club? Okay, I need to do some venting here. There are a couple of regulars (you know who you are, and I know you will throw barbs at me) who scare newbies away by turning a thread into a pi**ing contest. I was a newbie once and remember how intimidating XPAP therapy can be. I never asked questions because I saw what the regulars would do to some newbies. Instead of simply answering a question or offering advice, they criticize how the question is phrased, or say "oh no, not that topic again!" They also snipe at each other and at certain regulars they deem unworthy of being here. I have stayed away for weeks or months at a time because I get tired of the sniping and bickering. Why do I come back? Because, if you can hold your nose and wade through the stench, there are nuggets here and there. Don't suggest a foe list. I already have one, but it's hard to avoid the stench when someone quotes it in a reply. There, I've said my piece. I'll be back in a month or so. Please try to be nice to each other.

Edit: What I'm talking about here is that there's so much bickering, name calling, etc., that the useful bits of information get lost in the shuffle.

Maybe if they would take the time to READ the posts that address the exact same thing as their question, and digest the answers. Instead they don't read them, Pugsy's Sticky locked on page one must not be in their language.

My cure has become, ignore the post, as they probably couldn't or wouldn't read it either. As far as the "Foe Feature", I don't use it, I still have enough working Brain Cells to know who I like and Don't Like, if my Brain gets so bad I can't figure that out, I won't be able to turn on a Computer either  Jim.

If my feeling got Hurt so easily, I would not have any interaction with the Real World and go back in my Cave or under my Rock!
