Dry vocal cords, red throat in the morning. Dry mouth

Post by Ruinednose » Fri Oct 26, 2018 9:52 am

Dry mouth when humidifier is on level 5.
I use xylimelts and it helps with waking up in the night with the dry mouth but, it does not lubricate my throat, my vocal cords.
Waking up with horse throat, dry and red.
I've had this issues for about a week. Never had dry mouth with cpap before. 0 leaks shown in the sleepy head program.
Anyone else with similar issues?

If you feel a little horse you might have sleepwalked out to the barn!

Dry mouth and throat - signs of mouthbreathing with CPAP. It only takes a few minutes to really dry things out.

Nasacort lists side effects of nose and throat dryness, but not mouth dryness.

I've been using xilymelts for mouth drying. I guess I need to tape the mouth now?

You could give it a one-night trial. If you still get the dryness problems, it might be something besides mouthbreathing.

What mask are you using? You might be mouth breathing. I do, and without tape I wake up in the Sahara!

Easylife. The issue was nightly use of nasacort. I now use it in the morning only

Since I finally fixed the problem with leaking by using the right chinstrap (for me), but now I'm waking up with a dry throat. Also, the reservoir is almost out of water in the mornings. Any solution?

Doesn't sound fixed to me, FF mask, turn down HH Heat. Jim

I've tried FF masks and they don't work for me.
If I turn down the heat, wouldn't that cause more
problems with a dry throat?

at this point and if this doesn't work I'm throwing the
dang machine out the window (not really)...

Just within the last week or two I have been getting the extremely dry mouth.

I also use Nasacort but have been using it only in the morning, so I ruled that out.....

Also lately the water in the reservoir has been almost completely gone.

I have a humidifier on my furnace.

I use a FF mask.....

I do believe it could be mouth breathing but in a FF would that still cause the dry mouth ???????

Yes, any mouthbreathing can quickly cause dry mouth. Try a good mouth gel or Xylimelts. I use GC Dry Mouth Gel and it lasts all night. How it is applied is important to getting it to last all night. (I use a FFM.)

BTW, it doesn't take but a few minutes of mouthbreathing to dry out the mouth.
